You’re largely right about public ignorance of this, as of many things, thanks to the MSM. But recriminations among the various liberal groups and pols are still good things.

There’s a guy on this thread {JeffAtlanta} claiming this is a win for Dems and a loss for Republicans.

You have no idea what you are talking about. We avoided national suicide today so we all should be happy about that. The fact of the matter is, however, that the GOP leadership that we elected was the driving force that brought us right up to the brink of national suicide. The democrats were just along for the ride in this circus.

The bottom line is that we would not have been in this mess if not for Bush, Lott, McCain and Kyl.

Tell me, we saved the country today which is what we have all been working for, but which party is in the midst of a civil war, the dems or the pubs?

You really need to add some sophistication to your political thought processes. This is not a "us" vs "them" situation - our own party leadership, with the democrats as willing accomplisses, came very close to destroying this nation today.

Which political party's leadership was pushing this plan harder, the dems or the pubs?

Why, then, is “buy the rumor, sell the news” (inverted in this case) among the most reliable market maxims?

So how do we get Bush and Congress to honor their commitment to build the fence? Short of starting a second Civil War I mean?

The MSM sure didn’t tell ‘em how horrible this bill was, but they found out anyway!

No, no, no...I said the SHEEPLE. THEY'RE still pretty clueless. I DON'T mean "us"...politically aware people, whether on this forum or elsewhere. WE know what is going on, of course.

(And I oughta know...my boyfriend and kids are sheeple and they're sick of hearing about this from me. They have only a vague sense of it.)

I give up. These threads for two weeks have chronicled how the republican party leadership had sold us out. Now that the good republicans overcame the bad republicans you want to somehow push the spin that the GOP saved us from the democrats.

Do you deny that the GOP leadership attempted to sell us out or are you trying to pass this off as some sort of “strategery”?

Bush is relevant in the sense that a law and the funding for the border fence were passed last year to build the fence, and he apparently has been deliberately dragging his feet on implementation, while publicly feigning ignorance about it.

We’ll never be safe as long as congress is in session. Government’s mission is to destroy Liberty (or so it seems).

You’re welcome. Honestly, I don’t think this joint has been this happy since 42’s impeachment day. That was rockin’!

That would be talk radio and the blogs who informed concerned voters-I have that snotty sheeple nonsense-I think Hugh Hewitt did an outstanding job. He is for a good comprehensive bill, but this was a bad bill from the get go.
