Live Thread: Senate Amnesty Debate (CRITICAL 2ND CLOTURE VOTE TODAY!) Woo hoo!! It's DEAD!!
The U.S. Senate with Free Republic Input | June 28, 2007 | truthkeeper

Posted on 06/28/2007 6:25:57 AM PDT by truthkeeper

Here we are again my friends, hopefully for the last debate thread on this particular monstrous legislation. Proceedings are supposed to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, with the cloture vote being taken at 10:30 a.m.

On a personal note, you've all been wonderful in your passion, vigilance, and commitment to the principles on which our country was founded. If I have to be in a foxhole, I want to be in it with you guys.

Good morning.

How would passage of that abomination have slowed down the flood of invaders?

How would creating millions of new DemocRATs have helped the country?

“Bush would be more shaken if he got in a room with 100 of his average voters from last election and actually asked them how they feel about his Presidency.”

I believe he’d be in mortal danger.

Amen to your post 2011!!!!!

Now that we rose up the battle will wage ad inifintum. The Senate is furious at the little peoples and will vent their fury every chance they get. Fairness Doctrine will be target #1

So of all Republicans up for election in ‘08, only Graham voted for cloture (and didn’t even change his vote when the writing was on the wall). Strange man; they must have something on him.

You have to stop sounding like a dimwit troll.

Hey, hey! Let's take the rhetoric down a notch. Remember, the fight's not over, but for right now we can be happy!

Einstein,

How, exactly, does the MONORITY party revive legislation AGAINST THE WISHES OF THE MAJORITY party?

CNN reporter says Bush “looked shaken” when he emerged from his meeting this morning and got the news.

[Awwwwww. Tissue Alert! There goes the bill signing ceremony.]

Time for a big slice of Schadenfreude Pie!

Here's the recipe:

1 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup dark corn syrup
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 splash Kahlua or other coffee liqueur
1 chocolate graham cracker pie crust (9 or 10 inches).

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees (Fahrenheit). Melt butter in largish mixing bowl; add in corn syrup, molasses, brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix well. Melt chocolate; fold into existing mixture. Add eggs and Kahlua; mix vigorously until mix has an even consistency. Pour into pie crust (depending on size of crust you may have a little filling mix left over).

Shove into oven, center of middle rack, and bake for about 45 minutes. At 45 minutes, poke pie with butter knife. If butter knife comes out clean, your pie is done; otherwise give it about another five minutes.

Once you take the pie out of the oven, let it set at least 20 minutes before you dig in. It's really good when still warm, however.

Serving recommendations: small slices (this is an awesomely rich pie) and an ice cold glass of milk to go with it. Enjoy with a maniacal laugh!!

If we recall that Elizabeth Edwards “warned” (subtly encouraged) about possible protests and riots should Kerry not win the 2004 election, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find out that Kos/DU/Moveon etc. haven’t been sending out emails of the same meme.
