If you give it for a purpose, with a realistic right of an expected result, and feel cheated, you have every right to want it back, IMO.

I sympathize with you, but don't agree with you. It's not like purchasing something and then asking for a refund because its not what you expected.

A donation to a political party is just that - a donation, not a purchase.

I used to give money to the March of Dimes until they sold my name & address to a charity database. I stopped donating to them, but I don't think I would be right in asking for my donation back.
