Sometimes that happens! A Ronald Reagan comes along only once in a lifetime.
How do you feel about Fred Thompson?

So what’s to stop us from intervening in Mexico should such a scenario come to pass? Foreign entanglements in the ME?

I believe that most illegal immigrants want this nation and its values to succeed.
I disagree. I think that most illegal aliens, especially those from Mexico, despise or at least dislike this country and want to see American values replaced by Mexican values. Their loyalty first, last, and always is to Mexico.

“illegal immigrants also fight in our armed forces overseas protecting America.”
Please explain.
You mean those on the path to citizenship that are not yet citizens? Those that stood in line and did it right?

You have got to be joking. Bush has waited until his seventh year in office to deal directly with illegal immigration. You're right - he should have put that whole al-Qaeda issue on the backburner and focused on dishwashers and landscapers instead.
Internal enforcement has been worse than it was under Clinton.
Says who? Bill Clinton?
You obviously have learned nothing from the '86 amnesty.
Here's what we've learned: in 2007, we need better post-normalization attention to border security.
To: Dick Bachert
Enlightening analysis. Thanks!
To: Iwo Jima
If this were true they would stay in Mexico.
Mexico is more mexican than the US.
The truth is that Mexico is a rather bad place besieged by drug runners and corruption. This leads people to leave the nation in droves looking for better life in America.
The effort to portray all illegal immmigrants as valueless America haters is a caricature. It makes the emotions feel good and increases ratings for Lou Dobbs but is largely irrational.

It seems to be an old money old family delusion. We all hoped he had escaped that by moving to Texas and working as a roughneck in the oil fields. Evidently not.It got worse because George Bush one was just an American aristocrat
George Bush Jr is an aristocrat of the Mexicans and Americans. This way he scores lots of Mexican servants same as the rest of the brain dead hacks inside the beltway
Back in George Herbert Walker Bush's day the aristocracy also fought in wars. President Bush One had an exemplary wartime record

Should he be taking his eye off the ball now when we are in the most critical period of the WOT in trying to defeat Al-Queda with the surge?
With Lugar questioning his CIC abilities in regards to the war?

Now, Im not real pleased with President Bush, but with Mr. Kerry in The White House things would probably be much worse.
Not necessarily. We'd likely still have a republican congress.
To: Lijahsbubbe
If it's so easy why haven't they done it yet? It's beyond me.
O.K. I'm going to say this one more time. It's really very simple.
Bush does not enforce the borders because he does not want the borders enforced. He does not want the borders enforced because he does not believe that there should be borders, at least not between America and Mexico or Canada. He does not believe that America should have borders because he does not believe that America should exist as an independent soveriegn country. He does not believe that America should exist as an independent sovereign country because he believes in the New World Order/one world government/globalism .
Now what part of that explanation seems unclear or untrue to you?

I think that most illegal aliens, especially those from Mexico, despise or at least dislike this country and want to see American values replaced by Mexican values. Their loyalty first, last, and always is to Mexico. My experience with illegal aliens in southeast WA state couldn't be more opposite. I don't like them coming across the border illegally, but those I know have started businesses (with fictitious paperwork?), pay taxes, fly American flags, celebrate the 4th of July, etc.

Well, I gotta say, firehat, this is one of the most indendiary posts I have seen here. (now in Yoda voice); "Playing with fire, he is!"
I'm not one of GWB's biggest supporters, but I would like to chastise you for your choice of terminology.
GWB is NOT a "moron" but rather he is a globalist, doing what globalists do. And doing it with some sucess, I might add.
Whatever else he (and the others) are, they are not stupid.

[.. GEORGE W. BUSH - MEGAMORON ..]
WHAT IF?... Bush knows exactly what he's doing.. as a globalist.. allied with a cabal of globalists.. IN BOTH(several) PARTIES..
Would explain a lot.. Especially Bush's lame sound bite..
"I'm a Unite'er not a Divide'er"..
Wonder IF Alito and Roberts(Supremes) are globalists ALSO..
You know, that is WHY they were installed EASILY..
WHY?... to vouch safe future globalist legislation..
Anyway the odor of skunk is strong in BOTH PARTIES..

Thats the truth. Its sickening, whether the President has faults or not I never thought I would see it like this here. Just shows you the mindset of the far right. They are not truly "happy" unless they are miserable and they make sure they let everybody know, just like the far left.
That's why I don't listen to talk radio anymore. Rush was optimistic at one time, but followed the market and became 100% fatalistic all the time.
But there is a market for perpetual pessismissm and the cynics get their opium everyday on talk radio and here on FR.

I know. It has a bit of a blackmail scent to it as well. However, let's face it. Mexico is not much of a friend to America and Americans. It's very likely intervention by Chavez and oil-rich Muslim countries would be more welcome. Any way you look at it, this whole situation is one big fat mess with, really, no optimal solution.

There is a sizable percentage of non citizen hispanics in the armed forces.
It is quite likely that they came here illegally— breaking laws and
VIOLATING OUR SOVEREIGNTY AND PROBABLY CARRYING BOMBS FROM AL QAEDA
But for whatever reason, chose to enter American armed forces to fight in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan so you could all prattle on about how much of an idiot you think President Bush is for failing to see the grave security threat of such people.
