You didn’t waste your vote in 2004. Kerry would have been worse than this.

Bush is a neoabolitionist with delusions of Lincolnesque grandeur as he rides off into the sunset of his miserable presidency. This will be the story he tells his grandchildren, about the time when he and his brave team stood up to the bigots of America, all 71 percent of them, to force the next age of cultural decline upon our future generations.

I just think that there are a lot of people on this site that are one issue voters, and whine and cry, and take their toys and run away if they do not get their way on every issue.

The end of this country as we know it, the end of our safety and sovereignty, the decline of our economy....these are not single issues.

Other than the Harriet Miers debacle, I have stuck with this President through thick and thick.

I have earned to right to no longer sit back and quietly watch him and Ted Kennedy try to destroy this country.

If you would stop defending him blindly and look at the REAL issues involved in the Amnesty bill you would be shocked and saddened.

“The current tsunami of illegal immigrants has caused the biggest demographic change in this country since the slave ships caught a fair wind just off the Azores. The illegal aliens emerged “from the shadows” and have become the clutter in the gutter. Senate Republicans are trying to convince their conservative constituents that those millions of unwashed people demonstrating in the streets were not really illegal aliens but were actually all unemployed Elvis impersonators. This invasion of serape freaks have given us another hyphenated nationality - Vagrant/Americans. Despite the relentless cant about “hardworking” Mexicans, it was the Chinese who built the railroads - and they didn’t sneak into America to do it. The inundation of illegal aliens is motivated by the realization that by sneaking into the United States they will have nothing to lose and everything to steal.”

Very well-written, with a great sense of humor and irony.

Unfortunately, the joke is on the American taxpayers.

I've long thought it was more that he sometimes confuses Christian principles as appropriate to each individual with that behavior proper to one holding an office.

You're absolutely right about that, and I've said it numerous times. The duties of what the Bible and traditional theology and philosophy call a "magistrate" are different from the duties of a private individual. When you take public office, you serve the public first, and your own personal preferences must give way.

A private person may turn the other cheek and be nice to his enemies. A person in office must stand up to those enemies if they threaten to undermine his country or his ability to perform his duties. Bush simply doesn't seem to understand that.

You cannot ZOT a thread just because you do not like what is being said. That is called censorship.

I was always under the impression censorship is when the government keeps speech down.

And I can't ZOT a thread anyway, I'm not a moderator.

Frankly, I think the name-calling pointed toward the Commander in Chief is fodder for ZOT consideration. Perhaps the AM disagrees. Nevertheless, I'll express my opinion as much as I can in the forum.

I think my record of being an independent thinker on this forum speaks for itself.

Bush and his people have called us racist and xenophobes. That's a little insulting.

We're called that because we don't support the immigration bill. A bill that'll create second class citizens and 12 - 20 million new democrats.

Millions of new, poor, angry dems whose children and grandchildren will "lose the work ethic" as they assimilate into the American underclass.

Do you really want millions and millions of new poor members of the underclass working for two years then collecting social security (disability) benefits for 50 to 60 years?

Saw this posted on here a few days ago...

“For a while now, and really, since shortly after the 2004 election, I have gotten emails from folks who say, “Bush forgot that you have to dance with the one that brung you.” They’ve been sending me that message for so long, on so many different issues, that I suspect Bush feels a little like a girl who is invited to a fancy ball - and proves to be excellent company for most of the night, despite being hated by many of the guests – but manages to fall out of step, at which point she is abandoned on the dance floor and told to find her own way home.

Betrayal is such a strong word; did he betray you, really?

—Did he protect us from the reach & province of the International Criminal Court? Yes.
—Did he keep us from the Kyoto mess that is currently tying up Europe? Yes.
—Did he create a workable alternative to Kyoto that other countries have embraced? Yes. Bet you didn’t know that!
—Have US Carbon Emissions decreased on his watch, without Kyoto? Yes.
—Did he submit a comprehensive energy plan that got killed by a weak congress? Yes.
—Has he lowered the deficit ahead of schedule in time of war? Yes. Even the NYTimes admits it!
—Did he cut taxes? Twice? Yes. And yes.
—Did he try to get the cuts made permanent? Yes. Congress dropped that ball.
—Did he stop government funding of EMBRYONIC stem cell research? Yes.
—Has he kept the promises he made as he held a dead cop’s shield before the Joint Houses? Yes.
—Did he go after the Taliban and AlQaeda in Afghanistan barely a month after 9/11? Yes.
—Has he been unflagging in his efforts to subdue terrorism, worldwide? Yes.
—Has be been the consistent voice for human liberty around the globe? Yes.
—After some serious missteps, is the surge working? Yes.
—Has he been a staunch friend to Israel, the only stable democracy in a frantic region? Yes.
—Did he end the farce of world-wide Arafat admiration? Yes
—Did he remove Saddam Hussein, whose state supported terrorists, from power? Yes.
—Did he invade Iraq at a time when the whole world believed Saddam had and “would use” WMD? Yes.
—Did he bring a much-maligned coalition with him? Yes. Some are still there.
—Did he liberate 50,000 people in keeping with the ideals of the 1998 Iraqi Liberation Act? Yes.
—Has he inspired the Iraqi people to finally believe enough in freedom to fight AlQaeda with us? YES!
—Has he figured out that a free and engaged Middle East makes America safer? Yes.
—Has he kept you safe since 9/11? So safe that you’ve almost forgotten to fear? Yes.
—Did he remove “the wall” between the CIA and the FBI? Yes.
—Did he go to the UN before invading Iraq? Yes.
—Did he tell the UN that the US would never ask permission to defend herself? Yes.
—Didd he inspire Libya to surrender it’s WMD without firing a shot? Yes.
—Did he appoint excellent SCOTUS and Federal Judges to the bench? Yes.
—Did he implement the NSA terrorist eavesdropping program? Yes.
—Did he immediately move to freeze assets and make terror funding more difficult? Yes.
—Did he reform Medicare? Yes.
—Did he reform Social Security to give you more power over your money? He tried. See Congress.
—Did he manage an economy thru recession, terror attack & war w/ consistent gains for over ten quarters? Yes.
—Has he kept unemployment between 5.5% and 4.4% for an impressive period? Yes.
—Does he say what he means and mean what he says? Yes.
—Did he try to address immigration last year, when the houses in his party? Yes.
—Does he support the second amendment? Yes.
—Does he support school vouchers and school choice? Yes.
—Did he sign the ban on Partial Birth Abortion? Yes. It went to court, but he signed it.
—Did he reverse Clinton’s intent to kill Reagan’s pro-life Mexico policy? Yes.
—Did he support the Defense of Marriage Act? Yes. That used to be vitally important to you.
—Did he expand the roles of faith-based organizations in social programs? Yes.
—Did he prosecute the white-collar criminals like Ken Lay who ran riot through the ‘90’s? Yes.
—Has he handled himself with enormous courage, dignity and grace in the face of world/media/hate? YES
—Is he a man with a creed before he’s anything else? Yes.
—Did he establish Health Savings accounts? Yes.
—Did he have the Border Patrol installing monitoring devices along the borders? Yes.
—Has he made mistakes? Yes. Some undeniable beauts.
—Has he been an imperfect president? Yes.
—Has he spent too much? Probably.
—Has he given you most of what you’ve wanted? Actually, looking at the list…yes!
—Has he dared to disagree with anyone to keep his principles, even you? Yes.

Has he really been your Judas? Has he really betrayed you?

Did he ever question your patriotism, or tell you you were a bad person? No, actually, he didn’t. Go read his remarks in context, instead of looking at one sentence blared at you by the very media you distrust. Be intellectually honest enough to admit that in this immigration controversy there are (sadly) some who are using fear to move their agenda, and there are some (only some, but they hurt us all) who reveal bigotry in their rants. You needn’t be offended if you can remember that there are those “somes” in every group; conservatives have no corner of perfection. You actually do have a choice as to how you receive what you hear, see and read, just as you have a choice as to how you receive a good, that is, with “open” or “closed” heart.

I love this line:

” The Incas and Aztecs were doing very well before the Spaniards got there thank-you-very-much. Culturally, Spain’s most celebrated literary icons are Don Quixote, a deranged horseman in a metal jumpsuit, and Sancho Panza, a simple-minded stooge who served much the same function as Bill Richardson did for Bill Clinton.”

BWAHAHAHAHA....

Well said, DB.

With Jorge unwilling or unable to lay out any coherent reasoning for this disaster of an immigration bill, it leaves people to question his motives based on the facts of Jorge's upbringing and connections. I feel quite strongly that he and congress are expending so much energy on this because it benefits THEM. No other issue, including the GWOT, has received this measure of effort.

Remember BushBots: when Jorge leads all the lemmings over the cliff, he'll be the only one with a golden parachute.

Pinging Tony Snow!

Please show this thread to you boss, Tony...give him a little briefing on what the internet is and all, so he can understand it.

(I know that he only likes to recieve communications from his inner suckups -- I believe Condi is on the record saying that he must not be upset with a lot of reality -- but he needs to know what is happening out here.)

“You’ll catch more flies with honey”

Not in this case. No matter how much honey you put out, the aromatic Matterhorn shitpile of Bush’s domestic policies, with the sole exception of lower taxes, has a lock on every fly for thousands of miles.

I will say something nice about Bush. He is implementing the job he was supposed to do before leaving office. He brilliantly held on to that issue without discussing in much over the past six years.

Time is running out, Clinton did his job, Bush is doing his job. Bush is far from being stupid. He is dedicated to his mission. THAT MISSION being to tear down the US borders to enable the next facet to happen.

Wait and watch until the knot tightens.

It’s not all the hate that bothers me, it’s the hysteria behind it. I haven’t seen such fear and demagogy since... oh, listening to some Democrat hack blame it all on Bush five minutes ago. Same difference.
