I took my daughter in for her six-year-old check-up and when we were finished, he said, "...and she doesn't need any more shots until she's 11 -- unless you're going to jump on the Gardasil ridiculousness."
When I snickered, he said, "A lot of people have requested it, and we give it if they do, but my feeling is that there's not enough research to justify vaccinating nine-year-olds."
My doctor also mentioned it when I had my 10-year-old son in for
his camp physical. Again, she didn't encourage it, but at least she recognizes that girls are catching the virus from boys, not from using the water fountain.
(We got him a tetanus booster and something else.)
