Bush vows permanent ban on future illegal migrants Jun 23 01:49 PM US/Eastern President George W. Bush promised Saturday to permanently bar future illegal immigrants from the United States as he renewed his push for immigration reform, a centerpiece of his domestic agenda.
A revised reform package was reintroduced in the Senate this past week after its predecessor failed on June 7 to garner enough votes to cut off debate and move for final passage.
The collapse of the first proposal has prompted a personal intervention by the president, who went to Capitol Hill to plead for giving the bill a second chance.
But while he has succeeded in putting the proposal back on the Senate agenda, the legislation is facing strong opposition from both Republicans and Democrats, who argue that granting legal status to an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants will only encourage more people to sneak across the poorly guarded border.
In his weekly radio address, Bush sought to address these concerns, revealing for the first time that under the revised proposal, people crossing a US border illegally will not only be deported, but never allowed to enter the United States again.
"Under this bill, those caught crossing illegally will be permanently barred from returning to the United States on a work or tourist visa," the president stated.
He went on to assure Americans the new bill puts border enforcement first.
The measure contains 4.4 billion dollars to help the US Border Patrol hire more agents, build additional fencing, purchase infrared cameras and other technologies that help intercept illegal aliens.
"Only after these enforcement tools are in place will certain other parts of the bill go into effect," Bush said.

To this day, he still hasn't made any credible attempt to stop illegal invaders. While I'm far from the Mexican border, I am outraged that our security is deliberately put at risk.
To those who say Bush insults our intelligence, try seeing it another way. Consider that George Bush and the Senators in his corner may very well be the "stupid" ones.
The overwhelming legal citizen response against the Immigration Reform bill caused it's recent defeat in the Senate. The message was clear: we don't like this bill.
Those who expect us to believe that this bill is not amnesty, that it won't put an added burden on U.S. taxpayers, and, the latest lure: that Bush promises a permanent ban on illegal aliens, are asking us to buy into a pack of lies.
So who's stupid?
Political double talk.
Fool me once....
HAHAHA!
He won’t have to.
If this Bill becomes law It is all over but the crying.
If this Bill passes there won’t a tomorrow.
Remember Bush Sr started NAFTA and Clinton got it passed in congress. Clinton took credit and we got really mad, now you can see the republican leadership and the democrat leadership are fighting for the same result. Ron Paul is not part of that team so he therefore is omitted and hoped that he will go home.
I will only vote for Ron Paul and if he is not on the republican ticket I’ll write him in. I Quit Their Game. I win because I will not gag or throw up placing my vote. I believe that we have a long shot on getting this country back, and I’m going to do my part.
Indeed, periodic “Operation Wetbacks” and regular enforcement of the current laws could eliminate the need for a fence, as the invaders would simply stop coming. I’m not sure all the drug-runners and corrupt Mexican soldiers would do likewise, however. Thus, a fence does have its advantages.
What office were you running for? (If it was lieutenant governor, then nice to meet you, Mr. Bullock.)
I like the name and been there with the tag line.
Bush Jr and the Clintons (Bill and Hillary) have both been lead by Bush Sr. He has been the country’s CEO for a very long time. These shrills have only done as told and do not have the wisdom to see the bigger picture. They only want the fame and glory. Open your eyes, research you heart and you will see that we have been deceived.
My question on deception goes deeper now that my eyes are open. God is doing his part, are you doing yours.
Okay, well, let's see the fence, then. I support you Mr. President: the judges you've chosen, the War on Terror, your pro-life stance and your tax cuts are right on the money.
Now, let's shut the border down. Big Time.
The office I unsuccessfully sought was a little further down the list.
3 times?!
Not to mention the aggressive stares from the illegals with their gangbanger ball caps half cocked on their heads and the rising crime rates.
Our little town had NO, zero, zip, illegal Mexicans until a decade ago. Our biggest crime at the time was teenagers stealing batteries out of cars. Since then our crime rate has risen dramatically with rape, robbery, even a murder. The illegals blatantly drive around with Mexican flags on their cars blaring that horrible south of the border polka type music. I know Bush in his isolated world doesnt experience any of this, but I'm sick of it!
Same here. With rare exceptions, the "Crime Watch" section in our little local newspaper is filled with hispanic names.
His actions towards America are treasonous, and he deserves immediate impeachment before he does even more damage!
bush can speak to my mother about his south of the border kin who bring TB to our country and don’t need to register for the draft
I ripped up my Repub voter registration a year ago.
Time to bring in a new venue
"We can't figger out how to keep them out, and they're doing good work that Americans won't do. Plus, we can't seem to find them. They go home from work everyday and we don't know where they live. And when they come in to get their driver's licenses, we don't know where they then drive off to. Their kids at our schools won't tell us where their parents live, and gee...some of these poor unfortunate immigrants don't have their kids, or parents, or sisters and brothers with them here...and that's just terrible. Yeah, we need to fix all that...and the answer is Comprehensive Immigration Reform."
The would-be emperor has no credibility.
