According to Revelelations 1/3 of mankind dies in the war with 200 million combatants. These are specific numbers and not symbolic. Also, the bible write John quotes another set of numbers to tell how many people die almost down to the person. The passage says that the blood of the war is as high as a horse shoulders and 2 furlongs in length. If you do the math and divide how many pints of blood in this equation, you get about 4 billion people. How many of us are here on earth at this stage? 7 billion? That would give you a strong hint as to when exactly WWIII will start. Christ said their would be wars and reports of wars but the end isn’t yet. Global news, global reports of lots of regional and local skirmishes.
Look at North Korea around 2009 when China cannot fund it’s food supply for the true beginnings of WWIII. The only thing holding Kim back from nuking the South and probably conquering it is China feeding them and the US catering to them. Kim lives in palaces and keeps his country under his thumb. Do you think the 2 million North Korean army will still work for him without food? What do you think Kim will do with that army? Let them all revolt or use it? It gives a national group to blame such as the Jews to blow up while propping back up the economy through cranking up the military machine.

First of all, it's "1600 furlongs" or about 200 miles. Second, the setting for this passage, if taken literally, would indicate it is a very wide area, a plain. The blood would come out in a confined area, but would spread out over a wide area. If you choose even a conservative number for a width of the flow of blood, say 100 meters, it would take every last drop of blood from over 12 billion people to make up that volume. And that’s a conservative number.
To make this scenario fit means you would have to squeeze twice the current population of the entire world into the immediate area around Jerusalem in order for this prophecy to be anything approaching “literally” true.
Thus the fantasy of the literalist view of Bible prophecy.
