How insane do you have to be to think it's really that easy?

Not the reason... just the promoters.

Dysfunction, depravity, and license guised in the cloak of "peace, love and activism." The "Hippie Movement" along with their creators, the international left, simply pushed that supposed values down the throat of the public culture. It was only a minority of upper class kids who's parents could underwrite that kind of disfuncitality who signed on. The rest of us were not much different than our parents.

I was there, and not one in a hundred of young people my age were anything like "Hippies." For the most part, we had traditional values even if we did not always abide by them. (Nor did any other generation) But if you watched the mainstream media in those days, or even today, you would be convinced that every Boomer was a Hippie.

We weren't.

Hippies were scum then, and they remain so today. (See Paris Hilton)

Like most every thing else, don't believe what the media tells you about the 60s --- or anything else.

Paris isn’t a hippie, she’s just a rich dumb bimbo whore (and wears expensive clothes).

And you think that all of our current problems can be blamed on those things - that we don't also suffer the effects of greed, vanity, lust for power, apathy, hatred and bigotry - all the things that are anathema to the opposite excesses of the hippie movement? I still maintain that is not a rational proposition.
