In 08 when someone comes up with RINO Rick for VP, then will be our time as Texans to speak up and let America know how worthless this slime ball is.
I am proud to have voted for Kinky.....the first time I have ever not voted for a Republican in Texas.
While I am disappointed in some of Perry's decisions -- like this veto -- he was by far the best choice of any of the candidates we had in the last election. Perry may not be the most conservative GOP governor we've ever had, but he is still very much a republican and not a democrat. Perhaps you don't remember the runaway government under Mark White and Ann Wrinkles, but many of us do. And I am very glad that Texans weren't stupid enough to elect a Liberaltarian joke like Kinky as governor.
I’m looking for the votes now...
the Texas House passed it 125-11, and the Senate passed it 29-1.
As long as you accept the medicine the current GUV shoves down your throat, and make excuses for him.....you will get exactly what you deserve.
Kinky would have been a fantastic message to all Texas legislators....but he would have had limited power....
It would have been the message sent to the republicans that would have had the long-term payoff.
Perry is Edwards.....
Recall
So are you one of these message voters that likes to lose elections to send a message to the party? I don't see a lot of value in losing elections for the value of the message that it sends to the republicans. We saw a lot of that in 2006 and so far the message hasn't worked out all that well.
As long as you accept the medicine the current GUV shoves down your throat, and make excuses for him.....you will get exactly what you deserve.... Perry is Edwards.....
As long as you take an all-or-nothing view whereby anyone who falls short of perfection on your conservo-meter is the same as the most hypocritical leftist dems, then you deserve the cynical disappointment you will always endure.
’With this veto, Governor Perry has left every home, farm, ranch and small business owner vulnerable to the abuse of eminent domain,’ said Steven Anderson, director of the Institute for Justices Castle Coalition, a national grassroots advocacy group committed to ending the private-to-private transfer of property using eminent domain.”
When the pigs take over Animal Farm, they don’t want anything - or anyone - getting in their way, and democracy be d*mned.
Mental gymnastics never work with me....and of course those of you without facts always resort to insults....
I expected a simple response....go ahead slap my other cheek....
Was the Kool-Aid good?
>Kinky would have been a fantastic message to all Texas legislators....but he would have had limited power.... <
Limited power for politicians is what we should be striving for!
I thought he addressed the What-a-burgers.
I voted for Perry in 2006. However, I will never vote to put him anywhere near the Executive Office. It is past time to bring the Southern subspecies of RINO to extinction: Perry, Warner, Lott, and Graham.
Ah, you’re right. My mistake.
California's eminent domain initiative was defeated, with Arnold pointedly not endorsing it. Why? Because it would have limited "takings" due to things like enviralmental regs, which remove a landowner's use of property without actually condemning and buying it from him. The Green lobby and Land developers formed a devil's deal to defeat it.
The only reason he ran was because he needed a job.
is this veto proof?
Very interesting. Thanks for posting. Thanks to all contributors to this thread.
If this is your opinion...then fine, but if you have facts to backup your claim, please be specific.
I agree that Kinky is an unlikely Guv....but all he would have is a Bully-Pulpit and a veto that could be overridden.....
I expected a simple response....go ahead slap my other cheek.... Are you talking about something like this?
"As long as you accept the medicine the current GUV shoves down your throat, and make excuses for him.....you will get exactly what you deserve.... "In case you haven't noticed, CONSERVATIVE republicans have challenged Perry on several issues and in some cases overridden things he has pushed for and in other cases convinced him to change course. On taxes and most fiscal issues, Perry has been far more conservative than a democrat would be. As for resorting to insults when you don't have any facts to work with, making a comment like "Perry is Edwards" seems a prime example of what you are talking about. Pot, meet kettle.
