I think this is what you have to beware of.

I believe the low water is due to the closing of the mines in northern Minnesota, thereby decreasing the amount of heavy -laden taconite ore ships in the lake. The fewer ships displacing the water have caused the lake to lower.

(Cause and effect relationship just like global warming. I bet my ratio of shipping tonnage vs water rise is similar to the ratio of man’s CO2 contribution and temperature increase too!)

I think you caught what I was trying to express. I’m not sure how to spell it, except sorta phonetically.

Oh, God.
I used to live in Manistee.
When I first moved back there, I heard that song for the first time in about 20 years.
I thought it was nostalgic and cool.
But after hearing it 20 times a day on the local radio station, I went bonkers.

WRRK — ALL EDMUND FITZGERALD, ALL THE TIME!!!

The Wreck of Patrick Fitzgerald
With apologies to Gordon Lightfoot

The legend lives on from Karl Rove on down
of the mistake they called “Didhe Getme.”
Fitzgerald, it’s said, never gives up his dead
when the polls of November turn gloomy.

With a load of indictments four times more
than Patrick Fitzgerald had cause for,
that good VP tool was a bone to be chewed
when the polls of November came early.

Joe Wilson was the pride of his CIA bride
To send to some place in Niger.
As the big blowhards go, he was bigger than most
with connections to the Main Stream Media,
reviewing some terms with the yellow cake firms
for shipments headed for Baghdad.
But on the return flight he decided, alright,
could it be the transaction was bogus?

The Times op-ed made some tattle-tale claims
and a wave of indignation blew over.
But ev’ry man knew, as Fitzgerald knew too,
‘twas the Deputy at State who was leakin’.
The dawn came late and the truth had to wait
when the polls of November came slashin’.
When Labor Day came freezin’ was a great strain
in the face of a hurricane gatherin’.

Then later it came the old columinist confessed.
“Fellas, it’s too rough t’resist ya.”
At seven P.M. Bob Novak finally caved in; he said,
“Scooter, it’s been good t’know ya!”
Armitage wired in he had advice comin’ in
The special prosecutor’s case was in peril.
And later that night when his lights went outta sight
came the wreck of Patrick Fitzgerald.

Does any one know where the love of God goes
when the knaves turn the minutes to hours?
The pundits all say Scooter coulda’ been o.k.
if he’d put the indictments behind him.
He might have taken leave or he might have resigned;
But he went broke and sank under water.
And all that remains are the fees and the names
of his defense lawyers and their billable hours.

The New York Times rolls, and the Washington Post sings
in the rooms where their editors meet.
Advertising alights the young women’s delights;
the sports pages are for the old men.
And farther below the editors throw
All the letters the readers send to them,
But what does it mean when a man’s life and dream
Are destroyed and not even remembered?

In a musty old hall back home they prayed,
in Scooter Libby’s Cathedral.
The church bell chimed ‘til it rang four times
for each indictment from Patrick Fitzgerald.
The legend lives on from Karl Rove on down
of the mistake they call “Didhe Getme.”
“Fitzgerald,” it’s said, “never gives up his dead
when the polls of November come early!”

Recently. we had water rationing because Lake Okechobee was very low due to draught. However, the rainy season arrived pretty much on schedule, but the local officials are talking about how they would like to make emergency rules permanent. They just love harassing and threatening us about when to water our grass.

Darn right. And build a TALL fence around the place. And thanks for the offer of the carbon credits. The environmental impact of obliterating conservative birthplaces from the face of the Earth weighs on me heavily. Although, since we're doing the Lord's work (anything liberal) Gaia should understand and absorb the impact with no need for such credits.

Oh, and don't forget we need to airbrush all Bush admin members out of any pictures, ala Beria.

So what happened in 1926?

The Weather of 1926

Great Miami Hurricane of 1926

Felix the Cat Weathers the Weather...

...and the US in the midst of four years of Coolidge

When I saw the headline, I figured it would mention the fact the the levels between the lakes tend to get shift around because of the lock and canal systems. but it didn’t.

Lake Mead and Lake Powell are both mentioned in the article as also suffering lower water levels. What’s not mentioned is we (now living in AZ) are still in an on going drought. Both lakes a dammed and their level is human controlled. Their water is used to supply various communities all around the region.

Being from OH, I love the lakes and it’s interesting but.. call me in 100 years if the level fallen and stayed below previous low levels.

The lake’s water depth above sea level: * Average: 601.92 feet * Current level: 600.25 feet. * Lowest recorded level: 599.92 feet in 1926

The lake level has declined 1.67 feet from average, and the headline reads, "...disappearing Lake Superior".

Gee, just a little hysteria there isn't there ?
