That has my support.
If Republicans brought articles of impeachmnet forward against this guy for failing to uphold his oath of office and conspiring with a foreign power - Mexico - to violate our borders, it would help us in 2008.
Not that it would have a chance of going anywhaere - the DemocRats KNOW he is their secret weapon in 2008!
Bush's objective was not primarily directed at undermining the US per se. Rather, the intent was to achieve the rare domestic double-header of strong economic growth & low inflation. Bush needed a strong economy so the MSM could only fight him on the WoT; if he had a two-front war, who knows if we'd still be in Iraq?
The way to do that is exactly the way he did: flood the country with low skill (ie low wage) workers, who in turn increase demand (ie economic growth) across the board. I'm not sure if he knew it would happen, but once he saw the results, there was no way he was going to turn off the spigot.
(Of course, this is all short-term P&L effect. The longer term balance sheet items, like disease, school/jail crowding, slums, etc will all be paid by someone else long after he's gone.)
The amnesty push is a result of some misguided sense of obligation. What he really should be doing is sending them packing. Each side used & abused the other - we got cheap labor, they got foreign remittances, but now it's time for them to go home.
I'm not convinced Bush is some evil NAU conspirator - I've always suspected the main problem is that he has a low IQ. This whole amnesty push essentially proves the point.
