From "Mel Martinez Aims to Turn Around Republican Party":
Adam Segal, director the Hispanic Voter Project at Johns Hopkins University, said Hispanic voters are split over immigration, in particular a temporary guest worker program...The party that can figure out how best to address immigration issues could seal the Latino vote next election, he said.

Mel & Jorge Bush seem to think the best way to appeal to hispanic Americans is to forgive criminals, and to make it easier for law-breakers to stay in the country while simultaneously making it more difficult for immigrants pursuing the legal route to get into the country.

Get a clue guys! Stop pandering to offensive stereotypes.

The best way to appeal to us is to execute the laws already on the books, create a system that better rewards those going thru legal channels while punishing those going through illegal ones, and does not ignore crimes against property or people.

“Get a clue guys! Stop pandering to offensive stereotypes.”

It’s actually good strategy, Rove deployed it last year.

A liberal politicians fear being labelled “conservative” more than the care about facts. They also love to oppose themselves to conservatives, and label them as mean, etc. Rove/Bush labelling the opposition as wholly “conservative” keeps the liberal media and elites in line.

Last year all Rove had to do is leak twice that “conservative house republicans” were the problem and the liberal media, progressives, NPR all went running at that like a Labrador dog after a stick.

You've got to hand it to these super-smart repubs in the beltway, they are going to swap the possible one out of three new latino votes for this family of five dedicated Conservatives.

nthompsonwhitehouse, just so you know, my wife came here from South America (Peru) and is convinced that the Republican party is being deliberately torpedoed by you Beltway denizens with the, "Let them eat cake" attitude.

If this capitulation of our standards is passed, the party will be sucking hind tit next election. Count on it. It's obvious you weren't talking to real people until you came here. More people than you can imagine will lose ALL of that "fire in the belly" for the likes of Mel, Trent and the gang.
