The Olympics are incredibly expensive and I don’t think that any first time host site has ever ever broken even (they make the money later from reusing the stadiums, hotels, etc.), and this is where we can hit the Chicoms. The IOC is not going to pull the games from China, but if the United States and our allies boycotted, it would be a crushing blow. The Soviet Union lost a fortune on the 1980 Moscow Olympics when we boycotted, and we can do it again to the Chicoms.
