Hi there.

As a naturalized citizen of the United States, I must say that I understand why so many people want to come here (heck, I was only escaping Canada), but this latest bill is truly an insult to many, many people.

If we are serious about there being a problem, fix #1 would be to shut down the freebies that some not so intrepid folks might be coming here for. This means WIC, welfare, food stamps, and schooling. This means emergency care as in emergencies only.

I had to stand in many lines, answer many questions, get background and blood tested, and pledge my allegiance. Yet this bill wants to fund a group called La Raza. Hint: any other group with this name would be considered racist.

I'm not into a wall being built, but I'm also not too keen on the legalization of gang members. As a citizen, I'm tired of being patronized by Mexican officials.

I have a feeling that a bill could be easily rendered that would respect the rights of citizens, and the hopes of future immigrants. Dry up the benefits spigot, and then only those who wish to contribute to the Republic will come.

The current bill being bandied about is quite dreadful, if not out-and-out dangerous. The President needs to temper his "compassion" with common sense, and the Senate needs to remember those who put them there.
