I was born into a family situation, residing in a melting pot community, where doors to apartments were left open and kids roamed back and forth between families; where Polish, Russian , Yiddish, French, Italian, Hebrew and Portuguese, were used as often as English. As generational family members died off and children were born a sort of comfortable lingua Franca formed. I take particular pride in being able to pronounce words in most European languages providing they are not written in cyrillic letters, or the NEW European alphabet, ARABIC.
