Broward may cancel deal with radio station because it airs Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh has long been a thorn in the side of liberals, but now, because of him, some Democratic politicians don't even want to join with a local radio station to broadcast hurricane information.

Radio station WIOD, AM 610, has been the official channel for emergency information from Broward County government for the past year. The County Commission, all Democrats, balked at renewing the deal Tuesday, unable to stomach the station also being home to Limbaugh's talk show.

Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want to support a station that's out of step with area politics. Ritter, a Democratic stalwart in the state Legislature before being elected to county office, cited talk shows hosted by Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and WIOD's partnership with Fox News.

The deal with WIOD would ensure that news conferences are broadcast start to finish live from the county Emergency Operations Center in Plantation. Emergency managers became concerned during hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 that radio and television stations preempted their announcements in favor of news out of Miami

I know that now, and I thought it was wrong to begin with. If they completely stop all regular programming then the woman is stupid and wrong. My point was that some stations (our local station for the county I am in) will continue normal programming and then break in with any new news that comes across, so you never know when it will be posted. You have to listen to old country tunes for 55 minutes every hour and wait until the random report is broadcast.

If this station did that then yes, I think that they might have something to b*tch about, as I said before if the shoe was on the other foot and we had to listen to air america for 55 minutes each hour to catch the updates then we would be b*tching to hight heaven ourselves. It wasn’t until people told me that the station completely switches over to emergency broadcast mode and drops all other programming that I agree that the county board is completely nuts, especially if it has the strongest signal.

I saw a headline saying they are now considering staying with WIOD because of all the backlash. Now this JOlie thing. THese people are really showing their true colors. TOo bad their followers are too stupid to care or see it.

The chances are that in Broward County, Florida any moron, (he/she/unsure, can and does get elected to any office at county level just based on the D after their names.

Years ago this (Broward County,Florida)was a bastion of conservative politics, but that changed after GHWB came into office, and the character of the population altered, NOT for the better I may add.

I am seriously looking to relocate.
