1 Border security. First and foremost. Stop bullshitting us, we are either on a war footing (WOT) or we’re not. Make up your mind Bush.

2.Guest worker program (not linked to amnesty or a pathway to citizenship). If you overstay your work visa by 30 days you face immediate repatriation to your country of origin and will not be granted another work visa for a period of five years.

3. Fix the legal emigration problems leading to a back log.

Have a point based system that benefits the US

4. Create new status for illegals already here.

a. they have 60 days to report and register, after the 60 days if they will not register they will be repatriated to their country of origin.

b. New Status will allow them to get at the END of the legal emigration line and apply for new type of visa. This visa will allow them legal residency for 5 years. No voting rights, ever. Visas will be reviewed every 5 years. Any felonies committed by holder of this new visa will result in immediate repatriation to their country of origin. No government assistance will be paid to them until they have worked in the US for a minimum of 15 years. Limited assistance there after for catastrophic occurrences only.

THAT will be their “amnesty”

Take it or leave it (and if you chose not to register you’ll be immediately repatriated to your country of origin).

Carrot and stick approach.

The current bill as it is written is an affront to all thinking Americans.

There is no compelling reason to link guest worker program to pathway to citizenship.

Those look like a pretty decent set of amendments to the bill.

**Coming out of the lurking shadow** I would like to ask the board a question. I, along with you have been on a calling and letter writing campaign to voice my opposition to this bill. Recently, while watching construction on a pool and pool house in my neighborhood, it occurred to me that many of the people working on this project were more than likely illegals. Would it not behoove us as Americans and also benefit our cause to make the phone call to report this illegal activity? It would be another step in voicing our opposition to what is happening in our country. Many of us are probably aware of illegal employment, albeit manufacturing, construction or whatever in our own communities. I think it would be a good idea to also flood ICE with calls.
