As a fellow member of the 'club', I'm sorry to see you go. You've been a pillar of this community as you were to your family and fellow service members and you will be missed. God speed!
Thanks to Mojo2001 for the image!

Prayers for you and your family.
Prayers for healing, peace and courage.
Prayers for the good and courageous people of the USA that they rush to fill the void left by Tonk's passing.
Tonk, you fought the good fight.
You ran the race till the end.
Enjoy your reward and pray for us.
Thanks for everything.

So very sad.
Several years ago I asked him a series of questions and he was so very kind and patient with me. From what I could tell he stood above the fray and was a gentleman.

All mankind is of one author,
and is one volume;
When one man dies,
one chapter is not torn out of the book,
but translated into a better language;
and every chapter must be so translated;
God employs several translators;
some pieces are translated by age,
some by sickness,
some by war,
some by justice;
but God’s hand is in every translation,
and His hand shall bind up
all our scattered leaves again for that library
where every book shall lie open to one another.

Tonk was an institution here at FR. Please accept our fondest gratitude to you & his cherished family for all the joy with which you were able to enrich his wonderful life, and our deepest thanks for the love & strength you provided to him as he was leaving it.
And may all the warm memories of the many blessings with which he surely filled your hearts while he was here comfort you & keep you until you get to see him again!
Please accept also our prayers for you, amom, & for all those who loved Tonk, that God will guide you as gently as possible through your grief in the days ahead.

“Hurts to hear this. RIP, Tonk, and prayers to your family.”
It’s also good to hear. His suffering is over. Not that I was ready for his passing. Another good man gone. He probably doesn’t need our prayers anymore, but I’m sure his family does. I never got to meet him, but he was a distinct presence here on FR for all the time I’ve been here, including as a lurker. I’m really going to miss him. Godspeed, Tonk! Prayers up for those of us left behind. We will have to find the strength to go on until we can join him...

A Lord benevolent enough to give Tonk all these friends and his wonderful family surely has a a fine Yacht Club for him to hang out in until we all meet again.
Rest in Peace, FRiend.

What a kick in the gut this news has been this morning; Tonkin was one of FR’s great ones.
To: MoJo2001
We praise You and thank you Lord that you sent us Your Son Jesus Christ that we may live an everlasting life of incomprehensible glory and beauty. We thank you for sending us our brother, Mr Tomkin, who has contributed to the awe, beauty and love of our lives here on earth.
"Death is not the extinguishing of a light; it is the dimming of a lamp because dawn has come." -- Tagore
We thank you Lord for delivering to us the lamp of light and warmth that was Mr Tomkin, who helped us see and be comforted in the dark.
Now he will bask in the unimaginably glorious light and warmth of the Lord our Father,as he steps into the daylight of his first dawn.
