Same here. I change channels when he comes on and just read what he said on line. Half the time I can't even stand doing that, anymore.

His down-home, country style way of speaking was charming when he was campaigning in 2000 (and even in 2004).

Nowadays it seems forced and irritating. I don't know if it's what he's saying or how he's saying it, but it grates on me after more than a few minutes.

But then, so do the voices of most politicians. They sound like bad professors lecturing to their students. Very few politicians talk to people any more, they talk at people.

I think you nailed it. They aren't talking to us. They don't even want our input. Instead, they tell us what they are going to do.
