Compare these two sentences in this story:

"A Georgia judge on Monday voided a 10-year sentence given to a 17-year-old teenage male who was convicted of having consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old girl."

"Although the sex act was consensual, it was illegal under Georgia law."

(Because 15 is too young to consent to a sex act under Georgia law.)

There were 17 paragraphs between those two sentences.

17 paragraphs into this sob story, you find the real reason Genarlow is in jail in Georgia. What you dont see is that the 15 year old girl was in a drunken, stoned stupor when she was molested and abused. What you also dont see until the third paragraph from the end is that the whole sorid affair was video taped. There was no doubt in anyone's mind who sat in the original trial that this guy was guilty and was convicted as prescribed by law.

Finally, another missing piece I guess Fox could not seem to dig up was that every other person involved plea bargained their way out of jail and Genarlow can still do that today if he would. But he wants to beat the system and as a result, has been in jail for two years.

This hit piece on the legal system is an effort by FOX and the other worthless news outlets to shift blame away from the criminal and onto anyone else. So typical.

Genarlow is right where he belongs.....and I applaud our Attorney General for ensuring he stays there.

.....the law now changed is so goofy....oral sex: 10 years. If he had had regular intercourse instead of oral sex, he would have gotten only one year on a misdemeanor. Now that is strange....Most on FR posting feel his sentence was extreme....so do I.....

I’m glad he’ll be free soon. They never should have arrested him for anything.

...was convicted of having consensual oral sex...

So having consensual oral sex is a crime in Georgia? I suppose if he had raped her he'd be a free man and weren't we constantly told by the LSM during the clinton years that oral sex is not real sex?

Thanks for the information that matters about this case. Drunken stupor is hardly a state of competence for consenting to anything.

Now arrest the parents for not watching their children! THis is why we have so many single moms on welfare! Kids have no business having sex and with proper parenting, they wouldn’t. TAKE YOUR KIDS TO CHURCH PEOPLE!!!

If the crime was that bad and the punishment valid, why did the DA offer a plea deal?

Remember, just because something is a law, doesn’t mean it is a just law. After this case, didn’t the GA Legislature change the law. Why did they change the law.

I have seen too many stories where prosecutor will offer the plea and the defendant doesn’t have the resources to take the case to trial. If none of the young men pleaded guilty, how would this case have turned out since I’m sure the prosecutor mentioned the other boys plead guilty so this young man must be also.

I haven’t seen all the evidence to know if he is guilty. Doesn’t the 15 year old say the sex was consenual even to this day.

What people have a hard time with is the difference in sentencing that we see. This young man gets 10 years for his one sexual act but we see female teachers get 1-3 years for having sex multiple times. Where is the justice?

About time. The sentence was absurd. This was another example of a prosecutor going wild. You can’t tell me that the intent of the legislators was to punish minor males who have respond to a minor females sexual advances. Most kids that age would have responded similarly had a girl come on to them. Sending a minor away for ten years for that is absurd.
