I agree. He chose DisneyABC. He did not choose to lead the fight for security or to defeat terrorism.

Fred’s grown daughter died suddenly in ‘02. She’d suffered from depression for years, and her death devastated the family. That’s why he left public service.

So what?

He can support himself without feeding at the public trough. That’s admirable.

Maybe he thought he wouldn’t do a good job if he ran again. That’s honest and honorable.

You really are twisted.

Time for the “I’m against Fred” talking points list?

I wish Hunter the best. If his supporters can bring him forward, more power to them. If not, then I hope he can be groomed for the future, so we don’t find ourselves this short of candidates again.

At the moment my money is on Fred, but Hunter is about the only other candidate that I would like to see in the White House.

List?

I'd love to make a list. But then, I'd have to be more motivated than Fred is to actually join the field of GOP candidates. Of course, that isn't hard to do, because Fred Thompson won't even get out of his chair.

I COULD make a list, but I think that might be a violation of McCain-Feingold. Fred Thompson voted for that, you know.

What's a list? Is that anything like the questionnaire that Fred filled out in 1994 where he checked the box that he was pro choice?

Would it be an empty list, like the list of Fred Thompson's accomplishments in the senate?

How about we ask John Glenn to make a list of the number of times he steamrolled Fred Thompson during those Chinagate hearings?

Or we could make a list of all the illegal aliens that Fred Thompson gave amnesty to. List? You mean like the laundry list of women that Fred dated while he was running around Washington like a sex-starved Foghorn Leghorn??

Fred could make the list for me if he wasn't married to an 18 year old trophy wife.

I tried to get Fred to write a list, but after about two minutes, he forgot what he was doing and started nodding off in his chair.

If only I had the fire in the belly necessary to make such a list...

How is Fred supposed to handle the stress of President if he can’t handle difficult times with loved ones?

Being President is much different than being Senator.

Fred is announcing July 4. He’s motivated, but has contractual obligations, as you probably know.

Don't you FReadheads know that if you can't take legitimate criticism of Fred and his lack of belly fire, you aren't doing him any favors?

Are you even aware that Fred Thompson has actually read advertisements for a product called 'Lifelock' on his radio show without doing a full background check on the owner of the company?

Isn't it convenient that Fred 'forgot' to do a skip trace on this guy and have him followed by private investigators before allowing the company to advertise?

If he doesn't have the fire in the belly to do that, how's he going to ever run for president?

--I'm JCEccles and I approved this message

Just in case you aren't aware, the above is an impression of the poster JCEccles and is in no way intended to be serious.

It is merely an illustration of just how absurd JCEccles and his ilk can be.

Nah, Fred would wipe the floor with John Edwards at the first debate, just by showing up.

Possibly... But I do think there would be an arousal gap that might exceed the gap enjoyed by Slick Willie over both Bush I and Dole. Remember, arousal gappers don't vote on substance anyway.

All is moot though... Breck girl has zero chance of being the rat nominee.

Plus Fred would likely carry Edwards home State. Take it to the bank. In fact at least three of the current crop of Pubbie candidates would not be able to carry their home States either. All of that said, I am still not entirely comfortable with some of Fred’s previous stands, on CFR and immigration for example. We need to hear more on those and other key issues.
