Lying in Islam ["Lying is not always bad"]

Like most religions, Islam in general, forbids lying. The Quran says, "Truly Allah guides not one who transgresses and lies." Surah 40:28. In the Hadith, Mohammed was also quoted as saying, "Be honest because honesty leads to goodness, and goodness leads to Paradise. Beware of falsehood because it leads to immorality, and immorality leads to Hell."

However, unlike most religions, within Islam there are certain provisions under which lying is not simply tolerated, but actually encouraged. The book "The spirit of Islam," by the Muslim scholar, Afif A. Tabbarah was written to promote Islam. On page 247, Tabbarah stated: "Lying is not always bad, to be sure; there are times when telling a lie is more profitable and better for the general welfare, and for the settlement of conciliation among people, than telling the truth. To this effect, the Prophet says: 'He is not a false person who (through lies) settles conciliation among people, supports good or says what is good."

Sorry if I shattered the dreams of the simple. Morons like you who think life is as simple as the primary colors.

Nothing more simpleton than thinking you’re clever cuz you put a hole into an obvious generalization. What’s next.. going to point out spelling or grammar errors, Einstien, to show everyone how clever you are? What’s more sad than craven attention seeking?

Then if any one at all is to have the privilege of lying, the rulers of the State should be the persons; and they, in their dealings either with enemies or with their own citizens, may be allowed to lie for the public good. But nobody else should meddle with anything of the kind; and although the rulers have this privilege, for a private man to lie to them in return is to be deemed a more heinous fault than for the patient or the pupil of a gymnasium not to speak the truth about his own bodily illnesses to the physician or to the trainer, or for a sailor not to tell the captain what is happening about the ship and the rest of the crew, and how things are going with himself or his fellow sailors.

— Plato

There is nothing new or even redeeming in Islam. It is simply the codification and justification for inhumanity.

Idiot: my response had nothing to do with a generalization. “Lying is bad” is a generalization and one I agree with. That was not the statement made. As soon as “always” is inserted it is no longer a generalization but rather a logical absolute. Not being familiar with logic, I’m sure you don’t understand the distinction. “Lying is bad” is fine. “Lying is always bad” is not. Forgive me for trying to do a favor for someone I agree with. Precision matters and it is better that someone who agrees points out imprecision when it occurs rather than letting this be grounds for dismissal of his argument when he’s battling it out with someone who doesn’t agree. Thanks for the friendly fire though, asshole.

Also, you misspelled Einstein.
