I don't think I'm gonna live long enough to put 43,000 rounds through any of my guns. My daughter might, though.
I've got a little over 1300 rounds through my Springfield in the last year. At that rate, I'll need another 33.076 years to get there. But I don't see any particular reason that any of my 1911's couldn't make it to 100,000 with proper care.
Whoever shoots them after I'm gone may make that milestone, I dunno and I don't care.
Got nothing against the Sigs and Glocks or whatever, I just like my 1911's. They fit me, I shoot them passably well and I appreciate the history.
I'm just saying...
You’re 100% right in appreciating the 1911 and it’s history. There’s no doubt that it was the right handgun at the right time.
I think the grip safety and the trigger are two of its biggest successes. However, I prefer the “modified Browning” (linkless) lockup of the SIGs and Glocks. It just seems to work better and makes the weapon much easier to disassemble and reassemble under dire circumstances.
If they every put as nice a trigger on a SIG or Glock, it would be the best of both worlds.
