If we still had states appointing senators, we’d never see a GOP majority again. This author is either stupid, or a Democrat(but I repeat myself.)

There would never have been a Dem majority in the first place.

I would beg differ on that assessment. If the state legislatures become the appointment vehicle to the senate, the state legislature offices (senators and reps) become the critical battle ground for the parties to fight it out for the hearts and minds of the people.

Conservative states would probably have the majority of the senators appointed to Congress.

Nonsense

The states legislation would have a direct say on what happens in DC.

The powers that the federal government have usurped over the years from the states would be vastly reduced and people in general are way more conservative than liberal. We would have a much more conservative Senate and in general a much more conservative government.

The forces that drive our government would be derived from the states

If it weren't for Reynolds v. Sims, which forced ALL houses of all state legislatures to bow to the false god of proportional representation, we'd have a better chance of a GOP majority, as state Senates would be able to use other methods of representation, such as county-by-county.
