His REAL fans don’t care what number, what color, what sponsor, what team etc. We support the driver and that’s the bottom line, we are not fair weather fans. There are idiot fans out there in all sports and we’ve seen them in Nascar throwing things on the track etc. but they are definitely not the majority.
I for one, am very happy he will get the equipment needed to win races. It’s tough for him, just because of his name but he has and will make his father proud. Dale Sr would be so proud of his son today.
Of course, the media is already spinning this into......what if he gets all this and doesn’t win the Daytona 500 next year? Good grief, I mean really how much is one person expected to be?
Finally, I was very happy to see Jeff Gordon fans welcome Jr fans last night on three different boards. Not on this one yet, except for Wolfstar. :)
Even the Today show just reported this as fact. :)
6.7?
Funny now that we look back at that.
I’m sure at the time it was meant to be funny since he’s associated so closely with that number. And rightfully so, since Dale Sr got tht number FOR HIM because his granddaddy Ralph drove that number.
I’m thinking about all that diecast money and 8 stuff that is now at 50% off putting a big loss in Teresa’s income this year.
We wouldn’t want to see the new team owners and teammate's on camera would we?? :)
UPDATE 4: also heaing another scenerio: Jr will be in the #5, Kyle Busch to Ginn [#01] and Mark Martin will finish out 2007 in the #5. No word on who would be in the #8....if this happens.(6-13-2007)
That’s the other scenario that gives Flash fits. The France family does owe Mark, and if he runs the rest of the season in the 5, I’d have to put him as the third-most-likely to take this year’s Cup (after Flash and JJ).
We’re now wondering about the Eury’s. It seems TEI has made Pops mad, TJ is on suspension and Tony Gibson has done a bang up job as CC. Gibson used to be at Hendrick. :)
I for one, am very happy he will get the equipment needed to win races.
Good for you, but IMHO, you are in the minority of his fans.
But well see, it wouldnt be the first time Im wrong.
Guess now is as good a time as any to repeat a couple of contradictory Theresa/John Menard rumors, now that Menard's is about to lose their best sponsor (all of the race-related Menard's billboards have featured Jr). Rumor #1 was from the Eau Claire area (the Menard family home) earlier this year - those two were allegedly an item. Rumor #2 came from "Let's Talk NASCAR" a couple Sundays ago - John was looking at pulling himself and son Paul out of DEI to go to Robby Gordon's team (Menard used to supply Robby's engines, and Menard's does sponsor Robby now and again).
No, trust me on this. I hang out on his website every day, his fan board etc. These are the core fans, the long time fans. We are the ones who vote every single day to make him the MPD every year for the last 4 years and again this year hopefully. We've taken polls, we've discussed it etc. There are those who don't want to support JJ for one reason or another, but for the most part there is the total support of Jr as his own man, making his own decisions for what is best for his future. And we trust his judgement.
There are weirdos out there, that's for sure but THEY are in the minority.
Yes I’ve seen that off and on now for quite some time.
The “item” has been denied vigorously but who knows. If it’s true they have kept a low profile.
I prefer to think that Menard as in Paul the driver has gotten the short end of the stick/car all year. If that isn’t fixed the jump ship scenario may be for real. I’m not sure that dumping Pops was the answer, but the dominoes will be falling in just about ONE HOUR.
We're live on Speed, and they're about to bring out a special "Back in the Day" (yes, I dragged out the laptop so I could watch Speed and FReep/blog at the same time).
19 seconds for a 2-tar stop? That was SMOKIN’ back in the day.
T minus 45 minutes. :)
I will have to log off during the news conference to do screencaps. I’m positive ESPN2 will have this as well.
I venture to say this is one of the biggest news days in Nascar history.
That was hauling it for sure.
Speaking of BITD, they are 50% off on Racing USA I couldn’t believe it. That has nothing to do with the 8 etc.
That show is a must have for all those who loved the old school racing.
One of the ESPN networks will. Money says it will be ESPNews.
Did any quarters pop out on that post #? :)
Okay, okay, I'll take your word for it.
:-)
And it will be ESPNews carrying the conference for the Mickey Mouse family.
