Our local hospital has a sign in the ER which says they will see medicaid patients in the Emergency Room, and will transfer medicaid patients to other hospitals, if they need to be admitted. The hospital does not admit medicaid patients.

Within broad Federal guidelines, each State determines the design of its program, eligibility groups, benefit packages, payment levels for coverage, and administrative and operating procedures.

Maybe it’s the ability of the people to pay their hospital bill. I know of two hospitals in San Diego County that closed their doors because certain categories of politically correct people have been walking into the emergency rooms and availing themselves of free medical treatment that the hospitals can’t afford. The hospitals then go broke and close.
