how about prayer in commencements....and pray in the name of Jesus...can you have the Ten Commandments in the school, class room, etc.

The poem spoke of personal prayer. Things get hairy when it can be seen that the school administration is getting involved in the exercise of religion -- whether for or against. Even among the religious who want administration-enforced religion in school you have the problem of which religion. We have had deadly riots between Protestants and Catholics over the issue.

Thank you for stating that often over looked fact.

Maybe in a different day you could successfully have Christian religion in public schools, if it were tried today, the islamists would demand that their religion be there too.

No thanks.

The poem speaks about:
Scripture, prayer, mention of God’s name, dress code, prayer in public, the Bible, quoting the Bible, electing student officials, teaching right and wrong, birth control, what you study, the Ten Commandments and guns....

It is about the total mess in the public schools….. and as someone mentioned, the poem is behind the times, now is okay and commendable in fact they will help with education/training about how to use condoms, protect transgenders, pedophiles and sadomites (diversity) but religious people, oh no….that’s what the poem is all about….
