"...if Einstein were trying to get a green card, he would have to get in line with Argentine plumbers and Taiwanese accountants to qualify under the new “point system” that gives credit for such things as English proficiency and reliable work history? Good thing Albert was a patent- office clerk, and that grooming isn’t part of the new point system."

One more thing wrong with the bill.

As always, Krauthammer is brilliant and hits the nail on the head. Why can’t this man run for office?

The very word “comprehensive” in comprehensive immigration reform is a clue that you are being had.

The very truth of the matter is that the government isn’t willing to enforce the law, so any law whether comprehensive or not will be irrelevant.

I will not believe in the good intentions of any lawmaker on this subject until I see the borders secured and current law enforced. Secure the borders, enforce the law, and then if in doing that we see some problems or anomalies that must be corrected, then fine, we’ll talk about it. But if you’re not willing to secure the border, as a minimum, why am I going to believe you about anything else?

Krauthammer’s fellow “FOX News All-Stars” aren’t going to be too happy with this column, to put it mildly. ....the pro-amnesty RINO Fred Barnes, in particular.

It is time to reclaim the GOP, and get these “amnesty first” folks out of office.

This issue will be number one by next year, when troop draw-downs will have already begun and Iraq is no longer the number one issue.

Read Peggy Noonan’s WSJ article (highlighted on Drudge).

Don’t these GOP politicians (Bush included) understand that border security first is the only answer right now?

They’ve made their deal with the Democrats. We’re the beer-swilling NASCAR saps whom they have to put up with during campaigns.

But even then, let’s make sure we know what’s really in the bill and not distort what the American people are really demanding, which is border control first.
::::
With Bush at the helm (the veto pen that won’t) that anything closing the border FOR REAL such as a complete fence with border patrol backup WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

The insanity, elitism, and the push for the North American Union, are a big part of this insane cop-out by Washington. And how does this “bill” provide to protect us from the illegal who just walks across the border and does not play any meaningful game and just stays illegal?? He will not be prosectued and imprisoned....for him it will be just the status quo as it is today...

BORDER FENCE FIRST...then work a program but ANY PROGRAM will be a failure for the REAL AMERICAN CITIZEN if the border is not closed to illegal traffic.

Thank you for writing to me about the current immigration reform debate now going on in Congress.

I understand there have been mixed reactions to the bipartisan bill that is being considered in the Senate and that there are very strong feelings about this issue. I believe that while this bill is not perfect, it is a good compromise. The current immigration system is not working - our borders are broken, our national security is compromised, and there is no feasible way to identify and deal with the 10 to 12 million undocumented people now living in the United States.

I have served on the Immigration Subcommittee for over a decade, and while there have been many partial attempts to address immigration issues, this is the first comprehensive bill that has a chance to fix and reform the entire system.

Dianne Feinstein

The beginning of the response received from the California Senator...

This monstrosity of a Bill needs to be dragged out to the Capital grounds and have a stake driven right through the center of it.

Then it needs to be chopped in half with an axe, burned, and its ashes scattered to the four winds.

No Bill is better than this Bill.

I hope that it is done in time before these folks screw up things permanently.

Krauthammer’s fellow Fox Stars are mental light weights - from Mara Larisson - the leering transparent Democrat plant, to clueless Kondracke to Bushbot Barnes and leftwinger Juan Williams.

No Fred Barnes is a RINO? Seriously, how many “true” conservatives are left? It may only be you.

Check out the latest FR poll? The overwhelming majority of Freepers strongly disagree with pro-amnesty advocates like Barnes and the President. So no, I'm far from the only conservative around.
