Well, I’ve learned something here. Because of his pro-illegal aliean stance, Tony Snow has lost much of my respect.

We have experienced 21 years of institutionalized dereliction of duty (I’m referring to Article IV, Section IV of the constitution). There is no valid excuse for it.

Well, I’ve learned something here.

The discussion on illegal immigration here at FR helped me figure
a small mystery I noticed in graduate school (in the early 1990s)
at a Big 12 university that was strong on agriculture and engineering.

I always wondered why the Dept. of Agricultural Engineering exhibited
all the vibrancy and excitement of a long-closed tomb.

I hadn't figured out that with millions of cheap, pliable illegal
immigrants for labor...who needs to really invest real high-tech
mechanized agriculture?

Like The Old South, some sectors have decided to stick with
"the slaves".
Which The South found out was a loosing bet when a technologically
advanced North won out.

Of course, these lessons of history are lost on a bunch of employers
that see an immediate dollar.
(and honestly are discouraged in a relative sense from hiring US citizens
thanks to government regulations, etc...AND encouraged to hire
illegals due to the non-enforcements of the laws already on
the books).
