Bush's Attack on Amnesty Opponents
Townhall ^ | 5/31/07 | Chuck Muth

When it comes to dealing with the illegal immigration issue, President Bush and his administration are their own worst enemies. On other issues, the president is sugar and spice when it comes to Democrat opponents. But when it comes to rule-of-law conservative opposition to his “amnesty” proposal, the preferred method of operation is akin to thwacking the hornet’s nest with a stick.

You may recall that when the Minutemen first brought this issue to major public attention a few years ago with their volunteer border patrols, President Bush called them “vigilantes.” And it’s been pretty much all downhill from there, leading to his big May 29 speech on the current immigration reform proposal at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Georgia.

The president began his remarks by introducing two Hispanic members of his administration, Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez and former Cabinet member Mel Martinez, now a U.S. Senator from Florida. Both were born in Cuba. “I want to mention those two men because, to me, they represent what the immigration debate is all about,” the president said.

So right out of the chute the president misrepresents the issue. I don’t believe Gutierrez and Martinez are illegal immigrants. They and/or their families immigrated here legally. And it appears both came here to escape the oppression of the Castro regime, not to simply get a higher-paying job. So Gutierrez and Martinez are NOT what this immigration debate is about. The issue is over those who break the law to get here.

Bush condemns himself with his push for Amnesty and the North American Union and his alliance with “Scuba” Ted Kennedy. It is not “Hate Bush” to point out that the Emperor has no clothes on or that he is pushing an Amnesty that will destroy the Republican party (per Bill O’Reilly) and turn the U.S. into a corrupt third world hellhole like Venezuela or Cuba. (per Ann Coulter)
As I said earlier, it is amazing to find one Bushbot who hasn’t figured out yet that the Decider has sold them out to the corporate boys. The corporate boys who want cheap labor and a New World Order have got their puppet in Bush and you will be taxed to support the millions of illegals who will be after your job and want free medical, free schools and lots of welfare.

Sad but true .
Jorge only political party is the Bush Family party.
The RNC was just vehicle to promote the Bush Family agenda .

“He has done his best trying to fight the aclu, congress, and now even his own party. “

He only has to fight his own party when he clearly acts against them. The GOP doesn’t exist to serve President Bush.

” They did that in Nazi Germany with the Jews I think. “

I believe we all know what group calls conservatives “Nazis”. Are you a member of that group?

“How much does it cost the federal government to deport all of them ?”

Probably less than the President decided to send to Africa...

“Draconian penalties(large fines and jail time) on the enablers of illegal immigration, the employers who break the law by hiring illegals, HAS to be a part of the solution.”

That’s right! Not just a slap on the wrist. These criminals need to understand that for enabling this problem, there will be serious penalties. Jail time for human resources and anyone else involved in the specific illegal’s hiring process would have an immediate impact. Especially if it wasn’t done to make an example, but as standard policy.

>>This bill is not an amnesty bill. If you want to scare the American people, what you say is the bill is an amnesty bill. It’s not an amnesty bill. That’s empty political rhetoric, trying to frighten our fellow citizens.”

Talk about empty political rhetoric. Here we go again with the ol’ Humpty Dumpty routine:
“When I use a word it means just what I choose it to mean – nothing more nor less.”<<

Actually, “amnesty” is too kind a word. It excuses them from paying taxes if they don’t get a green card, accepts gang members and illegals with 2 DUIs, provides taxpayer-paid immigration lawyers, (what am I forgetting?) It’s beyond “amnesty.”

>>Un…be…lievable. According to the president, Americans whose “convictions run deep” on this “complex” and “emotional” issue “don’t want to do what’s right for America.” And the amnesty aspect of the proposal isn’t anything major; heck, it’s only a “narrow slice” of the bill. And anyone who disagrees is just trying to “frighten” people. Talk about how to win friends and influence people.<<

On Brit Hume’s Special Report, Barnes and Kondracke (The Beltway Boys), both amnesty supporters who are not the sharpest tools in the shed, said that Bush’s attacks on his base would not help his cause. In that, I think they were correct.

But now Bush has a dilemma:

If he keeps talking about the bill, it will infuriate us even further, and give us more energy to oppose him.

If he stops talking about it, he could be accused of not fighting for it.

Either way, Bush’s foot-in-mouth compulsion was a gift to us who oppose amnesty.

First of all I am a conservative. What I am so worried about is who decides who stays and who goes.I remember in the Viet Nam conflict our local draft board received a lot of cash in the hand to get deferments for some people that were healthier then a lot of guys who went.I have seen crooked boards, judges etc in my life time.Believe me when the buck starts flying in the air people run after it. They did round up the Jews first, then they came for others. Who decides who is good enough to be here? Do you want to volunteer to round up all these people who are here?If they allow these people to sue which is what they are doing now? Who pays when the liberal law says they get restitution? When I had a problem with anything I never sued for anything. Did you?I see this as another way to mess up the works and create more gov. No the gop does not exist to serve president Bush, but Bush did more for the gop then the gop did for Bush. Bush tried to have the party be more inclusive, but I guess you rich country clubbers just don’t want my conservative pro life vote because I am not jumping in lock step to the idea send them homeAlso I ask the question,”How do we do that” ? You still did not answer my question? As a WHITE Eastern European born American,I wonder where we go next? Everybody is screaming send them back but who cuts the grass at the all snobby country clubs of America? Yep they are.I feel most of the crime in America is caused by a bad element that came into here, they are now in our jails why not deport them first? They are still here, know why? Because their country’s do not want them back.

Don’t get me wrong ,l I do not like this bill. In my opinion your hero Mr Reggie the president with all the answers according to Laura Ingram and company started this whole mess.He let them in and nobody stopped them ever since. I do not like this bill , but rounding them up is going to be pretty hard to do. Do you watch OReily on fox news? Even he said it is impossible to do this. I hear a lot of the deport them all comments but nobody is telling me how.if we do round up people and the squealing on everyone you think is not a citizen , doesn’t that make us no better then what happened in WW2. Oh as far as the nazi issue and me calling you one. Nope was called that when i went door to door for pro life candidates and supported Teri’s right to life. Was one before you ever were.

If you shoot over the border it is an open act of war. War with Mexico would not go well with the world body now would it. We could not even get respect for taking out a confirmed dictator let alone shoot at Mexicans over the US Mexico border. We would be peceived as big bully America picking on orange pickers. Would you like to pay for the defense at the world court for that one?Shooting over a border is an act of war.Another one, what do you drive and how far do you go when you drive? Not everybody is as rich as the day is long and cannot afford to throw their cars away to buy new ones. The Saudis control a lot of oil. Oil is used for a lot more things then gas , l even some clothes are made from oil for example. Mozilla( I hate google ) it up and see what products use oil. Not every industry in the US can afford to just throw their equipment in the trash that uses oil to make the products you use. Unless you are a hermit and live in a cave.We did nuclear power in the 70’s that went down the tubes with TMI. You can mozilla that one up also heavy nuclear accident that killed half of a county with cancer.Domestic drilling off the coasts, one spill aka Alaska ,remember that one ,the capt. of the ship was drunk and we lost half of Alaska’s pristine coast line.Lockheed is a private company this is not Russia , private companies have sold out before,Aka Rockefeller Center, Nobody said anything. You got a lot to learn. keep posting to me I could teach you a lot. Bush has had the mess of a lot of presidents and he is just trying as best he can to clean up the mess , not kick the can down the road. For what the reps did to him and turned their backs on him he should just be like Regan , Bush 1 and Clintie and kick the can down the road , go visit Europe with a check in his hand like Clintie did and enjoy himself like clint did in his last few days in the White House. Bush is too much of a man to do that. the reps do not know what they had.

Absolutely, Bush should be impeached. There, I said it. I have gotten to the point that I really do hate the man. HATE. If he succeeds in pushing this Amnesty through, then the Republican Party MUST split. I want no part of the Bush portion of the GOP. The “big tent” is starting to smell. We need our own tent.

The goal of conservatives is to conserve the American way of life - borders, language, and culture. Ann Coulter supports the American way of life, which is being destroyed by millions of illegals who are slowly turning America into a copy of their own corrupt country, Mexico.

A bizarre paradox is that immigrants leave their home countries like Mexico or Eastern Europe for America because their home countries are corrupt, malfunctioning, single party states that provide no future because of excessive taxation or oppressive socialist government. When the immigrants arrive in America, they begin trying to change America into a copy of the (malfunctioning) country they just left because that is what they are used to.

Ann Coulter matters because she is sounding the alarm over the loss of America’s borders, language, and culture to millions of illegals and Bill O’Reilly is sounding the alarm over the impending death of the GOP and this is a message you apparently don’t want to hear - are you part of the solution or are you part of the problem? Don’t attack the messenger so you can ignore the message.

“Even he said it is impossible to do this.”

O’Reilly is no conservative and is, frankly, just a journalist.

“doesn’t that make us no better then what happened in WW2.”

Ah, the “enforcing the law” makes one a Nazi argument.... again. Perhaps all those times you were called a “nazi” caused you to believe conservatives really were?

” Oh as far as the nazi issue and me calling you one. Nope was called that when i went door to door for pro life candidates and supported Teri’s right to life. Was one before you ever were.”

You don’t have enough information to make that statement.

I don’t get your post. The fact of the matter is it is going to be almost impossible to enforce any kind of deportation of millions of people. I do not approve of people turning in people ,it becomes a slippery slope. They( the government and law enforcement) have to have some way to handle all these illegals coming over the border, but how to do it that is the issue.I am a conservative whether you believe it or not I could care less, I know what I stand for. But this business of immigration is being used as a political football by both sides. When you get into an issue like this it becomes so personal that unless you say yes yes to either side you do not care about your country or are not conservative. Attacking me and my ideas only turns off another person to already lonely conservatives in this country. I say everybody give their ideas and figure out how congress could use any ideas and call your congress. There are a lot of people too emotional on either side to even discuss this issue. i don’t like that. I want to listen to different ideas, give what I think is a good idea in some way and maybe something could come out of this.deportation is too hard to do for all these people that are here.Oh one more thing I think Oreily has a little more education then just journalism.

Look my hero is not or ever could be Ann Coulter , sorry I do not like her .I think she is so far out there she is Cindy Sheehan in a conservative veil. One is no better then the other. I am so sorry you do not like Eastern Europeans , maybe only the English should have the right to be here. Nope they came here when America was a prison for English jails. Maybe the irish, nope they came here because they were starving. How about the French , nope they came for the fur trade with Europe and emptied their jails here also. Wait I guess I can find somebody who came here lets see , Germans , nope they came to escape the perils of Germany in WW! and WW2. ok I am thinking. Gee I got to look and see where Ann Coulters relatives came from.Everybody who came here at one time or another kept their own traditions. It is what makes America great ,a great melting pot with many cultures. I guess that idea is over with. I guess I am not as conservative as you people are in here because I look back and see my family was not born here. I am proud to be an American, fly my flag support my troops and live the American way of life. but to knock other people that come here for a better way of life, not my style.Hunt them down like animals , nope not me. See them legally deported back to their own country. if that can happen fine. word of advice, there is a horse thief in every family. Maybe you better check yours out just to find out who one is in your family. i bet you ten bucks when I start looking I find one in Ann Coulters.

Place would be pretty dull eating out in a wasp restaurant . the food is lousy, try Italian, Chinese, or maybe you can try eastern European pierogies. great foods , great culture. Try mixing around. you will find out it is a pretty nice country .

You seem defensive and envious of Ann Coulter - I have not said that she should be your hero. I said she has an important message and that you should not attack the messenger so you can ignore the message. Her message is that if you let 40 million illegals from a third world country in, they will change the U.S. into a corrupt third world country like Mexico or Venezuela. Visit L.A. or South Gate if you doubt her message and see for yourself - but attacking the messenger (Ann Coulter) does not help you persuade Freepers, who admire her for her intelligence and charisma.

Second, I never said I do not like Eastern Europeans. I like Eastern Europeans who want to protect the American way of life (Anglo-American culture, English language and protect American borders) and I do not like Eastern Europeans who want to change America into a copy of whatever socialist hellholes they abandoned.

You state that you have no problem with illegals who come here for a better life - the problem is that illegals who come here and rob and steal to create a better life for themselves do so at the expense of real Americans. Illegals who come here from Mexico are making America like Mexico - a corrupt run-down place like L.A. Immigrants should not be allowed to come here because it will make a better life for them; immigrants should only be allowed in who make like better for Americans, such as doctors and teachers and engineers. If you doubt this reality, post your name and address and I will find a number of illegals and let them know that they can use your house as a flophouse - after all, it will create a better life for them (but not you).

Nobody died in TMI, as of yet there has not been a single nuclear incident on any US military vessel with a fission reactor... the fact is we are not TEACHING this and we are still using coal as a majority power source, we could be exporting our clean coal tech to China and India instead of using an archaic energy source. He could have made a secret bill like he did with this one authorizing the military to build nuclear reactors for Missile defense system power stations and used the excess power to be leased back to the people.

I don’t think you understand the american publics comtempt for the Saudis, people were willing to do so much but instead he does NOTHING to solve our dependence on Saudi Oil. Has it ever occured to you that the ICE nearly became obselete after the space shuttle was launched with fuel cell batteries?

The fact is that those Oil tankers have to go to the same coasts regardless of where those tankers come from your tanker arguement is moot.

Ever wonder why you have a fence then a wall?
You shoot them when they cross the fence that is your kill zone. Have nice warning signs. We have them in Iraq, we are a nation at war after all. Why wouldn’t the Jihadists use the mexican border wait...they already have.

As for UN condemnation, we pay for it everyday anyway. All our allies are laughing at us for not taking this INVASION seriously and you are whining about what the UN thinks. What would it take for you to acknowledge that this invasion could be seen as an act of war? Or is your concern about world opinion detrimental to the advancement of the NWO that your masters want oh so badly that they are willing to decide to act as rulers and not representatives of a body of responsible people?

“The fact of the matter is it is going to be almost impossible to enforce any kind of deportation of millions of people.”

Dry up the benefits, enforce employment laws, and deport those stopped for other crimes. The problem solves itself by a simple application of common sense and statute law.

“They( the government and law enforcement) have to have some way to handle all these illegals coming over the border,”

The one thing that would work would be to STOP THEM, not LEGALIZE them.

“Oh one more thing I think Oreily has a little more education then just journalism.”

He’s been a journalist all his life. His BA was in history, but his later degrees were in journalism and administration.
