Anybody know which republican presidential candidates agree with Pres. Bush here so I can cross them off my list? Whos against it so I can highlight them?
- McCain: giddy to pass it
- Giuliani: talks border enforcement, nothing else, no mention of his own sanctuary city policy and lawsuits to prevent enforcement.
- Romney: totally opposed to the bill, running ads against it in IA/NH, talks tougher but may not be as tough if elected as he sounds now, he did have MA troopers trained to enforce immigration law.
- Hunter: totally opposed
- Paul: totally opposed
- The Rest Of Them: zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
And Fred Thompson sounds pretty opposed to it on many grounds. Perhaps our best bet. Romney gets fairly high marks though, largely because I think he does grasp the disastrous implications of chain migration to welfare programs.
