Democratic frontrunner Hillary Rodham Clinton now leads former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (R) 48% to 43%. Senator Clinton also leads Republican Senator Sam Brownback 49% to 41%.
Clinton moderately leads among unaffiliated voters in both match-ups.
Among women, Clinton enjoys a substantial double-digit lead over both GOP contenders. Among male voters, she is and Brownback are tied. Huckabee leads Clinton among men 48% to 43%.
In earlier polling, Clinton led Brownback by five percentage points. This is the first time Rasmussen Reports has polled a Clinton-Huckabee match-up.
Clinton has consistently led all challengers in the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination. Seventeen percent (17%) of voters believe she is Very Likely to be the next President.
However, in general election match-ups, she typically is outperformed by Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D) and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards (D). That’s largely because voters have such strong opinions—one way or the other—about the former First Lady. Forty-seven percent (47%) of American voters say they will definitely vote against Clinton if she’s on the ballot in 2008.
Hillary Clinton is now viewed favorably by 49% of likely voters, unfavorably by 51%. That includes 22% with a Very Favorable opinion and 35% with a Very Unfavorable opinion. While she is a polarizing figure nationwide, Clinton remains popular with Democrats--82% of Democrats have a favorable view of the New York Senator including 43% with a Very Favorable view.
Senator Brownback is an unfamiliar quantity to 39% of voters, and many fewer view him favorably (18%) than unfavorably (43%). Those figures are little changed in recent months.
Governor Huckabee is viewed favorably by 25%, unfavorably by 36%. Like Brownback, 39% don’t know enough to have an opinion one way or the other.
Neither Brownback nor Huckabee has yet broken through the clutter of GOP Presidential hopefuls. The race for the Republican Presidential nomination has so far been dominated by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Arizona Senator John McCain, and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Two men not even in the race—former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich—also outpoll the rest of the GOP field.

Clinton has single digit likeability ratings.
Fred Thompson is tied with Romney on Tradesports now and is just a few points behind Rooty.
He will be #1 within a week when he formally gets in.
Many of the HRC supporters are backing her just to get their beloved “Bill” in as “First Gentleman”. They rally like him, not a popular majority perhaps but enough to get OH and the electoral majority.
My sentiment as well. She simply has too many negatives to win, unless there is a well-funded third-party candidate that siphons away enough Republican votes, as in 1992, or the GOP drinks Kool-Aid and nominates Newt.
As for Rasmussen’s match-ups between Hillary and Brownback or Huckabee, the latter two have about as much national name recognition as my county commissioner. The fact that she “wins” by single digits against either of them says alot about her chances against a serious candidate.
That is interesting if Hillary can’t put away Brownback. I believe if this keeps up the dems will pull a Howard Dean and nominate who they think can win.
They’re going with Obama figuring he’ll be the hardest to criticize.
It means a generic Republican can compete with HRC in a general election.

Around the Internet, they are called “manginas”.
These are mostly “males” who think they will be invited into bed by some babe if they put down other men.
There are, however, a lot of Republican manginas as well and I include Brownback as one of them.
These are “men” who feel they are being chivalrous by saying that most men are perverts and then backing every feminist law designed to regulate men in general a priori. These “guys” carry water for the NOW.
Meanwhile, the worst American manginas are the Democrat politicians, especially Joe Biden who took over as the slave boy of the “Key Street Feminists” in Washington, after Paul Wellstone, their previous slave boy, died in a plane crash in 2002.
Biden would do anything to subordinate men to women via laws.
And a key to Republicans winning in 2008 is to start talking about this. Look at the debates between Marc Rudov and Lis Wiehl on Fox News: the anti-feminist Marc Rudov keeps winning...showing that Americans are ready to vote Republican if feminism is made an issue once again.
There is a new video out called “I’ve Gotta Crush on Obama” where a gorgeous young singer says she has the hots for the leftie candidate. However, in a Fox News interview she admitted that she would “never date him if he were single”.
This said to me that the manginas aren’t even attracting their female constituents anymore.
At least one could say that Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton were selling men out in order to get nookie for themselves.
The current crop of manginas must be asexual.
