Sen. Jim DeMint on Tuesday blamed Democratic wimps in Congress for American casualties in Iraq, and cited Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for special censure.
During a luncheon speech to 100 constituents in Spartanburg, DeMint also took issue with the now widespread belief that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction, saying the executed Iraqi dictator had stockpiles of chemical weapons that still exist.
Al-Qaida knows that weve got a lot of wimps in Congress, DeMint said. I believe a lot of the casualties can be laid at the feet of all the talk in Congress about how weve got to get out, weve got to cut and run.
To a large degree, the Democratic party and those who basically declared defeat like Harry Reid.
Reid, a Nevada Democrat, became the Senate leader after his party gained control of Congress in November.
The last thing this country needs right now is this kind of disgraceful rhetoric, Jim Manley, a spokesman for Reid, said of DeMints remarks. Democrats will continue to insist that this administration accept responsibility for its failed conduct of this war, and that the Iraqi government accept responsibility for its own future.

Gee..could we get DeMint to resign his seat, and run against Graham in the GOP primary...
it’s too bad he’s one of the few fighting the “right” fight...
had they (GOP) had a majority who fought like this rather than playing from behind even though they were the “majority” maybe they would not have gotten their rear ends kicked last November...
I do not think that the Rats give a Rats Arse.
Wish he can groom someone to beat Graham. I would even vote for a democrat, Graham has been a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf.
Many of the clowns in Congress simply don’t know what every schoolchild knows-the proper way to act during a war. Whenever they speak on the war they SHOULD demonstrate common resolve, talk about the rightness of our cause and the evil of our enemies, that our victory is inevitable. Their words are weapons and they’re pointing them at our Troops.
Good for Senator DeMint. It is about damn time and I hope he keeps it up and is joined by others...
DeMint is giving Coburn a run for his money as the best Senator.
At least we’ve got one Senator we can be proud of in SC. I’m ashamed to say that I voted for Graham. He is a disgrace.
Heard a Leftist one day, offering why it is, that Dems seldom 'attack' other Dems. ..other Leftists; when interviewer commented on their 'united front'. 'Because it would be divisive and demoralizing and hinder their efforts to suceed' he offered.
Do not think for a moment; these Dems do not realize the impact of their devisive and demoralizing rhetoric as they attempt to undermine by whatever means necessary, our Military, our Country and the Bush Presidency. They know full well their impact of their Demrat MO.
Their goal is the same as VietNam. . .and any other warring endeavor we may so engage whereby Democracy is pitted against a totalitarian government.
Democracy (and Capitalism) by Demrat Leftist measure and determination; CANNOT win; and they will do whatever necessary to insure just that. In their eyes; and by their goals, America will never be declared a winner. . .ever again.
Honorable Senator Jim DeMint,
I want to send along my sincere thanks to you for standing up for our troops and our country when you spoke out against the defeatist Democrats regarding the war in Iraq.
Also, a heartfelt thanks for your attempt to remove the amnesty provision from the disastrous immigration bill.
Please keep up the fight and know that many, many Americans agree with you and appreciate someone who is willing to be their voice in these turbulent times.
With great respect and appreciation,
The last thing this country needs right now is this kind of disgraceful rhetoric, Jim Manley, a spokesman for Reid, said of DeMints remarks. Democrats will continue to insist that this administration accept responsibility for its failed conduct of this war, and that the Iraqi government accept responsibility for its own future.
Sounds like the truth hurts.
