First of all, I would vote for Newt in the general election if he, by some miracle of cosmic proportions, he won the Republican nod. I would vote for him over a Giuliani any day.
I do resent your caustic accusations of my intent or conservative affiliation. I totally dismiss your smarmy superior attitude regarding what you see as me digging myself deeper into some sort of hole. just saying it doesn't make it so. Newt is a burn victim. he has been burned by the left it is true, but in some cases he lit the matches himself.
Yes he was the great conservative leader of the nineties. Now he is kissing up to both sides of the fence in order to make people like him again. It is a failed strategy.
Get a grip.
Civility is not "kissing up."
I assert that Newt's personal and private life is none of your business, and furthermore that his current emphasis on civil, rational debate and perhaps even on "accomodating" Rat views on an issue (e.g. Hitlery and health care) is not whimpy, or "kissing up" or a "tryst" or anything other than what it appears to be.
Having said that, do you have any actual points of difference with his political views? Let's see how much of a conservative you are, when called to address conservative policies and principles, rather than personal attributes.
Ball's in your court.
