He has always made it clear that he supports an open border/amnesty type of immigration

The choice was Gore or Kerry or Bush. That's why so many voted for Bush.

If Bush cannot govern beyond his personal views and feelings then he has no business taking on the mantle of President of the United States. You speak as if he were king.

We are great because we are (or were) a country of laws, not of men. If this is an idea you have never taken the time to wrap your mind around, you might take a few moments and consider what that means. It is the central idea that separates us from most of the countries and governments that are and have ever been in recorded history.

I too used to think Bush was a good man and a great president. I now think he is very dangerous to the future of my children and this country.

Reading your homepage, I suspect you are a very good man and I in no way wish to belittle you. You and I will probably not live to see all the destruction that Bush's personal views will have upon this great nation, but our children will.

If Bush's vision of the future, based upon his words and actions, are what you want for your children and grandchildren, then I understand your post.

If not, then may I suggest a little time reflecting on the long term effects of Bush's it's-not-amnesty plan.

It is impossible to be against amnesty and for Bush.

“If Bush cannot govern beyond his personal views and feelings then he has no business taking on the mantle of President of the United States. You speak as if he were king.”

Bush ran on a clearly stated policy, and his views on what he saw as the right thing to do about immigration were always well known. When we elected him to office, we also elected his views and provided him with the authority to craft his views into government policy in concert with legislation from Congress.

Bush is not a king in anyway, he’s a two-term President of the United States who, despite his flaws and blemishes, has done an excellent job of establishing policies that has kept our economy very strong and our citizens safe from terrorism.

The immigration issue has been around longer than you and I have been alive, and that has been far far far too long. Bush’s polcies on this issue are unforunate, but they are not all that different from presidents before him. We can’t blame him for this problem....but we can hold the Republican Party and the Democrat Party accountable for getting this thing cleaned up....and the outrage we are seeing now across the politcan spectrum on this issue makes this the time to push for change that, otherwise will not happen - except for more liberal policies that we have suffered from for to long already.

Bush isns’t the problem here folks. The real problem is far too many Americans don’t know or care about this issue...Rush Limbaugh has it right - we must educate and inform if REAL change is to happen. Despite some opinions to the contrary - the American people still run the show...and we get what we elect for the most part. We have to find ways to wake up our nation to these critical issues we case in immigration, terrorism, etc. Immigration is just the symptom, the root cause of our problem lies in the apathy and ignorance of far too many of our fellow Americans.

We are great because we are (or were) a country of laws, not men..................We should change that to read "a country of lawyers", they are everywhere, saturating our governmental offices and generally influencing almost every aspect of our daily lives. "Come one come all, you can make big bucks in this country, don't need no English, don't need no legality, just sue anyone, their Gumm'nt will even help you do it!
