Same here. And, my ancestors wore blue.
I recently visited a battle field in Virginia where soldiers from both sides and their families would gather for annual picnics. If they could get over things then, how can anyone be holding a grudge now?

The South isn’t. Some in the North are.
I had relatives on both sides.
My respect for southern soldiers is the same as it is for northern soldiers. The grandfathers of both sides fought the revolutionary war side by side and their grandsons and great grandsons have fought side by side in every war since.
They’re Americans, period.
There appear to be more haters of the South these days. I was young during the centennial of the Civil War (or War of Northern Aggression) and there wasn’t the ill will that you see today.
Maybe my grandmother had some ill will, but she was born only a decade after the War and the damage inflicted by Sherman was an everyday part of her life.
