Without southern blood, WWII would not have been won. The south produced the WWI hero Sgt. York among many others. Southern warriors have been prominate in the US military before and after the Civil War, and I am sure you can find a few pictures of Tanks, aircraft and boats in WWII that have the Southern Battle flag prominately painted on them.

Why are you shouting? I agree with you. Not only York in WWI, but Murphy in WWII was an example. I’ve no problem with the CBF being used to denote pride in gallant ancestors. I do have a problem when it is being co-opted to promote segregation and racism.

Alvin York's family was a Union family in the Civil War. Alvin's grandfather Uriah York was a soldier in the Union army who was harassed by local Confederate riffraff in Fentress County Tennessee. With his family history, I'd be surprised if Alvin York would want to put the rebel flag on anything he owned.

My stepson went to Iraq. He took a Confederate flag with him. I’m so proud of him.
