False dilemma, BA.
Either he pops a Lincoln quote -- and Lincoln a) was the most reticent man alive at the time, but you knew that, and b) he wasn't stupid enough to say out loud what history could hang him for later -- or else carton has only his opinion unsupported.
You are a piece of work.
Why? If Carton is going to say that Lincoln knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that his actions would provoke war then why is it 'false dilemma' to ask for his evidence? And when all he can offer as proof is his opinion and his opinion only the it's hard to take him seriously.
