Illegals bill sinks Bush job approval
The Washington Times ^ | May 20,2007 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 05/20/2007 8:26:32 PM PDT by ding_dong_daddy_from_dumas

President Bush yesterday used his weekly radio address to urge listeners to support the immigration deal reached by a handful of senators last week, even as new poll numbers showed the immigration issue is hurting Mr. Bush's job-approval ratings....

But the deal is too harsh for some lawmakers, and not strict enough for others. Its fate could depend on whether senators, and the voters who elected them, view the deal as an amnesty for the estimated 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens in the country....

Meanwhile, a new Rasmussen Reports poll found Mr. Bush's approval rating dropped to an all-time low for that poll, at 34 percent.
"The president's ratings have tumbled each time immigration reform dominates the news," Scott Rasmussen, president of Rasmussen Reports, said in his analysis.
Mr. Rasmussen said that his polling last year, after Mr. Bush gave an Oval Office address laying out his plans for more border enforcement and giving illegal aliens a path to citizenship, found only 39 percent supported the president's position.

I think we will see some other amnesty politicians fall in the polls.

I’m done with politicians, none of them are worth a bucket of spit.

The President's base is deserting him... and Republican Senators are being watched on whether they will sell out the country for votes that will never materialize.

His old man's incompetence gave us Bill Clinton and now this pathetic guy is going to give us the Hildebeast.

A fair conclusion.

I'm damned tired of the Bushes.

Ditto. The tone-deafness of the current occupant is just amazing. What was it, just 12 months ago that W was pushing heartily for "Jeb" to run for Prez for "someday". A Few Years, and Then Another Bush?

Time for all the elites to get out of the way of those who truly represent the Middle Class of the country.

Well it certainly looks like the radicals have taken over.

Any majority that elects a thief like Feinstein and a nut case like Boxer certainly do not think highly of themselves or their government.

In fact these voters are very selfish.

He hasn't made a mess of The War On Terror.

Matter of opinion, I think he has been a buffoon on the war on terror. How many illegal Muslims have crossed the southern border during his administration? Sadar is still breathing.

Republicans want to strengthen their country.

Sure and you do that buy spending the country into a hole.

I voted for Bush against the president's opponents twice...I'm currently a one issue guy: IRAQ; because that is the biggest threat to my country's survival. And, although he came around late in the game, I blame Bush for the mess he's made by listening to idiots such as Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz and Bremmer instead of seizing the opportunity before him with overwhelming strength and ending the conflict when there was still time to do it. The other issues: immigration, abortion, economy, social security reform, CFR, stem cell, Katrina, environment, oil dependency all come second.

“But we’ll keep electing these idiots because we don’t want the “other side” to win.”

The “other side” has no agenda. ZIP! Nada. Why trade one buncha A’holes for another?

Or do you really want shriveled old hags busting your balls?
Are those your idea of “intended consequences”?

So that why the economy is in the tank. /sarc. His main failure, as I not see it, is not perparing the country for war. He has made us so comfortable that we can’t see that we are at risk from the Muslims.

I think this immigration nightmare is what will put the 2008 candidate in the “Anyone but Washington” mode for winning!

The only way Washington hears us is if we STOP PAYING TAXES - go to your HR and ask for a new W4 and up your deductions so that no taxes are taken!

Big deal. Like Bush or any of the politicians care. They have their place in the ruling class secured. Fat pensions, inside jobs, appointments, blah blah. They don't need our votes, just the money and rewards from coporations etc. They scratch each others' backs. The whole stinkin' lot of them.

I was stupid enough to believe them, glad I wasn't stupid enough to EVER give them any money for elections etc. They take enough from me as it is.

Illegals bill sinks Bush job approval

This is what happens when a fairly decent man supports ILLEGAL
immigrants for irreconciable reasons:
1. Compassion for people that are escaping a retrograde kleptocracy
like Mexico
AND
2. Corporate greed that wants a pliable, cheap labor source
AND
3. Political currents that desire the virtual guarantee of adding
millions of extra voters at the signing of a single bill from Congress.

It appears the Bushes have some kind of genetic pathological defect. They both built little pride and nationalism in the beginning of their terms, then they BOTH seem hell bent to turn our country over to a radical left "chomping at the bit" to destroy our liberty.

I agree with you except the opposite.

I think has done and continues to do the right thing in Iraq— earning him a well deserved place in history.

The overwhelming force argument was as likely to dramatically increase casualties and resistance there and at home.

The US success there continues to grow both geograpically and politically. I am sorry to read that you believe the NYT view of Iraq.
