We have a right to know what we are buying, food or otherwise.

And who granted you that 'right?'

I get so sick of seeing people throw that word around.

The second amendment RIGHT to bear arms was a pre-existing natural condition for self-defense granted BY GOD.

There is no 'right' to know anything about what you put in your mouth beyond what you can discern for yourself. You wanna know what's in it? GROW IT YOU LAZY FOOL.

If you don't want to grow it, make friends with someone at your farmer's market. Too lazy for that? Make a contact at your local grocer? Too lazy for that? Petition your government to extort money from my paycheck to hire inspectors that neither you nor I know to put a label on certain foodstuffs because of spot/periodic/sampled inspections based on standards neither you nor I have agreed upon.......AH YES! Now you've got your 'right.'

This country is full of socialist pigs.

Have to admit, you had me going there for a while, at first I thought you were serious. I noticed you setting up the strawmen and making various suggestions that we return to hunter/gatherers if we don’t like being poisoned. Heh, you rascal you, you had me believing you were really that ignorant. :)

It's hopeless, you are arguing with the something for nothing crowd here who will happily trudge down to Walmart to buy whatever Walmart tells them to buy while singing God bless America and telling everyone what makes this country great is cheap imports.

“And who granted you that ‘right?’ “

I have the right to life, liberty and the persuit of happiness. It would not amke me happy to die from lack of due dilligence on the part of my government, regarding my food supply, that they use routinely in taxing my money.

This country is also full of stupid pigs. Grow my own food, indeed. Maybe while I’m on a break from the fields, I can build my own car and process my own fuel, too.

Yeah, you know what, why does that pesky govt. rob my wallet to pay for those damn socialist police? They sure don’t catch everybody, so they’re useless. Let’s all get off our lazy butts and hire mercenaries to keep the streets safe.

BTW, I do shop local and pay a premium to do so much of the time, avoid prepared foods when I can, and talk often with the grocers, who in turn talk to suppliers. At some point these folks don’t know where a lot of the food comes from ultimately, and there’s a level of frustration about the inability to find out due to the enormity of these supply systems and the coy caginess of food companies covering their butts. To attack this takes a large scale organization with the resources to move and act internationally. I wonder what kind of entity could fill that bill? Gee, I wonder.
