I find this thread very useful to sort out the politically tone-deaf, the sub-rosa DU types, the hard-core buchanonites, and the ever-so-prevalent self-rightous and humorless conservatives. (note small 'c')
I concede that politics is only slightly less important than your next breath; but one must retain a sense of humor or keep a large roll of 100mph duct-tape handy. (to wrap one's head)

Downplays Ron Paul’s chances
I think Ron Paul has an excellent chance...of coming in dead last. Altough that Gilmore guy will give him a run for his money.

Bush is destroying the Republican Party, Those are my husband's exact words this afternoon. I tried to argue with him, but I didn't feel too much conviction. I feel betrayed by my President.

You are supposed to keep the mask on for a little while, and make things interesting. Blowing it on your first post is...well, let’s just say it’s disappointing. It’s late, so you’ll probably escape tonight.
Next time, think before you post. Lead us on a little. We have high expectations here.

That drug crack sounds like something youd read at DU, Moron.Org or HuffandBlo.I do a fair amount of volunteer work around recovering addicts and alcoholics. A lot of them are successful businessmen with big problems. The kind of grandiose statement quoted in the article is exactly the kind of thing you hear from that group over and over. The details vary. But it sounded very familiar.
Just because he's talented and conservative does not make him immune to the pitfalls of us regular folks.

Correction: Rush's spin of what Paul said is not good for him. Thanks for posting the article. That radio windbag is part of what is going wrong in the GOP and he's been one of the main cheerleaders of it. His overbearing ego is what makes it so easy to switch to another station. Rush reminds me of a certain poster who's name ended in Show. Actually for a while by his posting style I thought it was Rush. LOL

I notice that Rush never actually disagreed with Ron Paul's assertions about why Osama's Saudi terrorists hit us on 9/11. Certainly, any tie to Iraq or Saddam is far more tenuous than connections to the Wahabbist Saudis. Paul in fact presented the correct view, derived from Osama's own fatwa, CIA analysis, and the mediocre 9/11 report.
Paul must be eliminated for being truthful about 9/11 and its root causes. Telling the truth to the sheep is a sure sign that a candidate must be removed from the field.

God humbles the proud, and lifts up the afflicted.
Rush seems to have learned nothing about humility from having his life fall apart.

you would have known he was making fun of those that believe him to have that power.
No. He was serious. Something has changed in him; he’s become more cocky.
He used to be unserious but he said he was not declaring a candidate because of his power to sway his listeners.
Essentially, he’s saying they are sheep that will follow him.
That didn’t sound like a put-on to me.

People, it is a radio show (as in ORAL) you have to listen to it to get it.
Rush is not saying he is a king maker, he NEVER said or even joked about that. What he is saying is that he is trying to be a truth detector and when these guys go BS he will call ‘em on it. That could swing a number (maybe critical number) in a GOP primary.

“If Rush chooses Giuliani”
If you listen to Rush it is unlikely he will choose any one. He will point out the absurd. The winning candidate will choose themselves as far as Rush is concerned.

“I feel betrayed by my President.”
Me two. The Bush 2004 bumper stickers came off my truck and car last night. This is very troubling. The GOP cannot handle this. The party as a political force is done. I will bust my butt to de-elect Martinez. I never liked him. But tolerated him...no more. At least with the Dems the enemy of this country self-identifies.

This is the sort of thing that good people can disagree on.
We could start a pool, (a buck a guess) who’ll be the 1st one to drop out, and when.
