I don't understand this.

Southern border security isn't a big issue up here (it's really far away), but most folks want the law obeyed and have a "whatever it takes" attitude.

What POSSIBLE interest could GOP senators have in facilitating lawbreaking and illegal immigration?

As far as I can see, it's all bad - I've never heard a clear argument stating why all these illegals shouldn't be rounded up and kicked out.

What's the deal? What's the incentive for GOP politicians - or any politicians, for that matter - to be FOR illegal immigration?

“What POSSIBLE interest could GOP senators have in facilitating lawbreaking and illegal immigration?”

It’s about power, control and who Rules.

It’s never been about anything else.

1776 evidently didn’t teach the power elite the lesson hard enough.

Apparently there are now whole industries that absolutely require low paid, preferably illegal, immigrant labor for their business models to work. It’s not just agribusiness any more, but hospitality, home building, landscaping, etc. Unfortunately the lobbyists for these sectors have tremendous influence even on otherwise good GOP politicians. They’re politicians first and their primary focus is on getting money to be re-elected. They obviously feel that conservatives have nowhere else to go. Our focus has to be on making them understand that their re-election is in severe jepopardy if they vote for amnesty.

How can you be so clueless?

The essential function of government -- as presently constituted -- is for rich and powerful men to become even more rich and powerful. That is the sole consideration for any issue, whether it is immigration, the war in Iraq, social security, you name it.

The rich and powerful have a business plan for becoming even more rich and powerful if America becomes more like Mexico. Most people look at Mexico and say "that's awful." But Bush and the globalists look at Mexico and say "Cool."

The North American Union is not about Mexico becoming more like America, but about America becoming more like Mexico.

Please let me play devil's advocate here:

You can't send them all back, so you might as well make them pay taxes.
