I didn’t say I’ve never sped. I’m just amused at the attitude that there is a right to exceed the speed limit and the cursing at those that get in the way. Laws are for the “little people”.
I’m a right lane driver. If I happen to be in the left lane passing a car, I will get over as soon as it is safe to do so. If there is more than one vehicle that I am passing, chill out and let me pass them. Don’t shoot me, flash your lights, honk your horn, flip me off or attempt to pass me on the right just because you had to slow down to adjust to traffic.
If I’m driving in the left lane with no one around and no left exit coming up, go ahead and shoot me. You have my permission.
I don't think anyone on this thread would classify "the ability to exceed the speed limit" as a right. Rather, that speed limits are set so arbitrarily low, they're practically begging to be broken.
If I'm speeding and a cop pulls me over, c'est la guerre. You pay your money, you take your chances.
Many people make a distinction between offenses that are "Malum in se" (wrong in themselves) versus Malum prohibitum(wrong because the law prohibits). Murder, rape, robbery are examples of the first category. Being told to drive 55 on highways that were originally designed to be safely driven at 70 is an example of the 2nd
