It doesn't matter a wit. Its NOT the free speech issue you made it out to be. As employees they have no free speech on the air. XM is free to run its business as it sees fit. Hire them to be vulgar, and fire them when the vulgarity threatens their business.
Playboy used to prohibit its Playmates from doing things that would make Playboy look bad.
If XM wants to attract a lot of customers, this was probably a good business decision. They certainly thought so.
