We’re about to kick Rudy out of that big tent - he called abortion “choice”, that alone is an anathema to the GOP base.

Giuliani’s stance on judges is identical to that of George W. Bush, no litmus test, and no asking how they will rule on cases that may appear before the court. Giuliani has some explaining to do (the Planned Parenthood donations), but this isn’t a problem.

Woe to the GOP if they nominate this wolf.

He keeps saying that but why are we supposed to care? Since it isn't relevant to him in his execution of the job, why should it be relevant to us?

"I oppose it. That's a principle I've held forever, and I'll hold it forever.

I tend to agree with this way of thinking. I can only see abortion as an option in very specific, extremely limited situations, but it is still a moral issue to me - not a political one. Honestly, I could care less where a “to-be” Supreme Court Justice stands with regard to Roe v. Wade when many of our rights, like freedom of speech and a citizens right to firearms, are under attack on a constant basis.

Rudy might have said: Some people like to kill and rape. I have always been passionately against those actions. But I also believe that in a society like ours, where people have very, very different consciences about this, it's best to respect each others' differences and allow for choice."

It makes about as much sense as his muddled blathering on abortion.

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani says he feels "very, very passionate" about abortion and opposes picking Supreme Court nominees based on their view of the ruling that legalized abortion.

To quote Jerry Rafferty and Stealer's Wheel, "here I am stuck in the middle with you".

Rudy's colors will show and be his demise before the '08 elections.

He just doesn’t get it. If he truly thought abortion was wrong, there’s no way he could see it as right for other people.

We see that, but he, in typical leftist fashion, believes himself superior in thinking to us “hicks” and can finagle his way around the issue.

Some damn leader Rudy is. All the bots told us was was a great leader Rudy will be. Bull. He is absolutely opposed to abortion (like I believe that for a New York nanosecond), yet he doesn't have the desire and/or skills to lead others to see that abortion is evil ... is murder. It makes me completely sick to my stomach that this piece of work is running for the Republican nomination while telling us conservatives that what we think is sooooo old school and that we ought to get with the new program.

Damn him to hell. I've had it with Rudy. In the past I was happy to let those that support him live with their delusions, but now I will actively work against this man at every opportunity.

< /rant > Thanks for listening.

Its typical that candidates vying for the GOP Presidential spot have to run to the right during the primaries and towards the center or slightly left in the General to convince the independents that they are centrists (and not “rightwingers”). Guliani seems to be running to the center or to the left as if he already has the GOP nomination.

I wonder if a scorned Guliani would make a run as an independent to sink the GOP in this election?

But I also believe that in a society like ours, where people have very, very different consciences about this,

He keeps saying this like it makes any sense. It is obvious from answers like this that Giuliani, like any other liberal, is a moral relativist. He has no sense of right and wrong. That's why he aways defers to what a court says about something, like Roe v. Wade, not whether it is right or wrong. He can't see a difference between good and evil because he can't comprehend either. This makes for a very dangerous person in the White House. Very...

This is why I’ll never vote for him: This is a States Rights issue, not a Federal matter.this should be under the sole control of the States.

It’s simple, Rudy has decided that social conservatives just don’t matter anymore. It’s up to us to show him how very, very wrong he is.

I watched the interview on Fox. Wallace kept hammering him on abortion, gun rights and homosexual agenda issues. Rudy was feeling the heat literally and figuratively - sweating very noticeably with beads on the forehead and upper lip. At first I thought the studio was too hot, but Wallace wasn’t sweating at all.
