I have never read a Neal Boortz column before, and I don’t expect to read one again. Opie and Anthony are in poor taste, but so what? poor taste is not against the law. I don’t have satellite radio, but if I did, no one’s forcing me to listen to these guys. How dare Neal Bootz dictate what I should be listening to? It’s my choice.

You must be suffering from oxygen depravation since your head is so far up your @$$.

Nobody is “dictating” what you should be listening to. If HR3302 passes, somebody will.

Got it?

Yeah. WTF??? Opie and Anthony are not on a broadcast network. You must subscribe to hear them. I thought Boortz was a libertarian?

Boortz does’nt get it.

Free speech includes speech you don’t like.

Beyond that XM is NOT radio. It’s subscription based content, and they play by the rules that HBO does. If Bill Maher can spew the lies and filth he and his guests do, then O&A are golden, period.

However, this bill DOES need to be squashed and fast. Radio and the media are giving in to the likes of Jesse and Al, and it’s corruptiing the very spirit of our constitution and our civil rights. Another show on Free FM was fired recently for making a joke about asian drivers, despite asian listeners calling in and saying they thought it was funny. Larry the Cable Guy was on the O&A Free FM portion of the show and they are dumping out of any hint of “racial” humor for even HIM. Free FM (CBS) and the rest of the media are censoring beyond what the law dictates, and are acting like fascists when it comes to free speech - and the most disgusting thing is, they are only doing it to appease sponsors who *might* pull out of a show, *if* a minority group might complain.

Censorship for the corporate dollars.

It’s disgusting. I’m embarassed to live in this country. For all of the bleating about the black lists of the past, the libs right now are going past what they term “Mcarthyism” and treading firmly on fascist territory in terms of how heavy handed they are getting with restrint people’s speech - and it’s all for a few dollars more.

It’s GOT to be stopped, it’s madness. The media in this country has lost it’s mind, it started with Imus, and I do NOT want to know where it ends.

Yeah, WTF is Neal Boortz anyway. I find that whenever some guy is complaining like this, he’s usually just another media whore looking for attention, like Catholic League’s Bill Donohue.

You apparently did not read this one, either, or at least you did not comprehend it.

Boortz did not claim that anything these buffoons said or did is against the law. He plainly and correctly said that the First Amendment applies if the government tries to control speech. He urged a private entity to be responsible and control the content it puts on its airwaves.

OK, we are talking about free speech here.

What is the greater outrage -- to demand someone be fired or to joke about a woman being raped?

Fire Opie and Anthony. Don't fine them. Don't throw them in jail. Just fire them.

And if XM doesn't, cancel your subscriptions.

Boortz is in panic mode, as are most right-center talk radio hosts these days. He himself was a target right after the VA Tech shootings for things that he said that some were "offended" by.

At the core all these guys are scared for their livelihoods - Boortz is figuring better O & A than himself, so he is trying to separate their show from his for the public record.

Sure, it's pandering - the guy spent last week backtracking for his VA Tech remarks. These are crazy times - there is a bullseye on the chest of every non-Left radio personality. Sooner or later they all will say something that will cook their goose.

If a decent society don't protect their sacred cows (immune from criticism) no one else well.

It seems you flatter yourself by blind eye towards depravity

Clearly this idiot, Boortz, didn't do his homework... They ARE on terrestial radio, from 6-9 each morning (and have been for a year), then they have their 2 hour satellite show

These guys are FANTASTIC by the way, even if this stunt/bit was in poor taste

Hmmm. . .seems to me he is just expressing an opinion, not dictating to you what you should listen to.

no offense, but I think you missed the boat on what he’s saying in this article. He’s not dictating what people should and shouldn’t listen to. He’s saying that with this bill, the libs will use these guys’ stupidity to lump ALL of talk radio (Air America not included) into one basket and ban it. It’s no secret that libs would gleefully sacrifice one of thier own to eliminate 2, 3, 10 of ours. Regardless of O&A’s political stand, left or right, they can, and judging by this bill most likely will, be used as a tool to ban free speech.
