Your point is exactly correct. Theirs is a fledgling Democracy whose failure will have repercussions that no politician would want to put his name on and so the point if it is going to fail then let it. On the Political side I would make sure that America knows it was a great experiment that went terribly wrong thanks to the politics not in Iraq... but in America. and when we do leave then the real fireworks will start.

You points are well taken, but I have to put at least half the blame on those in Congress and the MSM who have done nothing but aid and abet the enemy day after day since day one of the war. It would have been an entirely different war had the US been able to send the message that despite differences of opinion here at home we planned to do whatever it took and stay as long as necessary to see our plan through. As it is just about half of Congress, and virtually all the MSM, just keeps sending the message to the enemy that if they can continue to wage war for just a bit longer we will lose interest and call our troops home.

It would be nearly impossible to overstate the adverse effects such and outcome would visit on America and our attempts to fight the WOT.

We’ve got to know that if a pullout comes it will be called a loss and the loss will be pinned directly on President Bush by the MSM/Lefties.

We, and by that I mean Western civilization, is at a crossroads. The next year will tell the tale. I pray, literally, for our troops and the America I grew up in.

Good morning.
“... but in America. and when we do leave then the real fireworks will start.”

Also, those fireworks will start here as well not long after we leave Iraq.

But the average insurgency war usually lasts 10 years.
