When did the idea get started that these good feelings are absolute proof that the LDS Brethren are right and everyone else is not unless they follow the LDS Brethren?
It comes from God. My testimony was not given or even known about by the brethren. My first testimony from the Lord was clear and concise and could have come from no one else. Once you accept that the church is true, you see things with a totally different perspective than someone who believes the church to be false. Things that you have a hard time with, I take in stride without pausing, be cause, Its true isnt it? Then what else matters. (that s from the last conference session)
If Im wrong on Mormonism then I will repent.
Well, then since it is true, youd better get started! (Do you see the difference that a different perspective makes?)
Not a day goes by that I dont wish the Book of Mormon was true.
Well, my FRiend, you are in luck, because it is true!
And thats the real problem, having enough humility to accept that the Book of Mormon is fictional. The scientific evidence is pretty clear on this. Its no more factual than Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny.
Man! Somebody sold you their perspective but GOOOOOOOD.
You cannot Prove the gospel is true, and you cannot prove it false. Its designed that way. What, got to you? Somebody sold you some scientific mumbo jumbo and you believed it? Science is the history of saying we were wrong Unknown. God told me it was true. Ill take his word over yours, and any and every scientist in the room telling me that they have a test tube and proved the BOM false.
Faith, thats what its all about. If you want to get Scientific then believing that some guy who died 2,000 years ago Resurrected and is going to let you into heaven is pretty far fetched, and what do you have to prove it? A book of Fables and thats it. If you are going to go forward in faith from there, why stop there? Follow that same testimony that testifies of Jesus Christ and it will lead you to the Book of Mormon. If not, why be a Christian?
This is why I find one Christian questioning the faith of another (as is happening all over this thread) funny. Basically, its
the blind men and the elephant all over again.
I am sorry you lost your faith in the BOM and in Modern day prophets, Im sure if you ask it will be restored to you as has happened before.
Have a really wonderful day and my God lead you to the happiness he has prepared for you.

I just got up and like you too I got my testamony before I ever knew anything about the leaders of the Church.
I feel like Joseph Smith when he first heard from the Father and Son he could not ever deni it!
When I received a witness by the Power of the Holy Ghost there was no way I could ignore the Book of Mormon and had to know more about the Church and every thing else fell into place.
No one could know the excitement and joy I was receiving at that period after all those years of my quest and my prayers were answered in a way I never expected.
This is written on my soul for ever no way could I renouce it without being blaspheming against the Holy Spirit.
I love reading the Bible now because the veil has been lifted on so many verses all the standard works testify of one another!
At that same time I was being inundated with the Walter Martin and John Ankleberg boogie man stories (fear is not of the Lord!)
When one studies the Book of Mormon and other scripture of the Lord you learn to discern the qualties of the Godhead and also of the opposition.
It is a fact the opposition can not give good for it is not in him to give, but he can create fear or doubt to cause men to waver, to one lead away, to give false hope, to lose faith!
Look at how the opposition try to tempt the Only begotten Son of Heavenly Father but Jesus Christ endure to the end!
The last thing the opposition would want is one to have understanding of the things of the Godhead.

No, what got to me is how the church deals with science. For example, the reputable LDS scholars all believe that Joseph Smith was wrong and that the scientists are right that the Lamanite/Nephite civilization are not the principal ancestors of the Native Americans. Why did they change their mind? Is it because there has been ZERO evidence found of the Lamanite/Nephite civilization? Is it because the scientists of all disciplines agree that the ancestors of the Native Americans were people who crossed a land bridge that once existed on the Bering Straits? Whatever it is its happened that they’ve changed their mind about the ancestry of the Native Americans.
BTW for restornu .... I had a very strong testimony. That’s a fact and all your suggestions that this wasn’t so are simply rubbish. I mourned my loss of testimony in Mormonism very deeply and would love to have it back if such a thing were honestly possible. Frankly the biggest problem facing the church today is the ever-willingness of its defenders to spin, lie, distort, withhold the truth, etc. on any issue that comes up which might not make the church look good. Some members wearing rose-colored glasses don’t see how foolish this makes them look. But for those outside the fold its quite obvious. And your statements about me are definitely false.
