I just got up and like you too I got my testamony before I ever knew anything about the leaders of the Church.

I feel like Joseph Smith when he first heard from the Father and Son he could not ever deni it!

When I received a witness by the Power of the Holy Ghost there was no way I could ignore the Book of Mormon and had to know more about the Church and every thing else fell into place.

No one could know the excitement and joy I was receiving at that period after all those years of my quest and my prayers were answered in a way I never expected.

This is written on my soul for ever no way could I renouce it without being blaspheming against the Holy Spirit.

I love reading the Bible now because the veil has been lifted on so many verses all the standard works testify of one another!

At that same time I was being inundated with the Walter Martin and John Ankleberg boogie man stories (fear is not of the Lord!)

When one studies the Book of Mormon and other scripture of the Lord you learn to discern the qualties of the Godhead and also of the opposition.

It is a fact the opposition can not give good for it is not in him to give, but he can create fear or doubt to cause men to waver, to one lead away, to give false hope, to lose faith!

Look at how the opposition try to tempt the Only begotten Son of Heavenly Father but Jesus Christ endure to the end!

The last thing the opposition would want is one to have understanding of the things of the Godhead.

We will see if the mod decides to now ban me for stating the truth the way some have recently been banned for not sitting down and shutting up so the Mormonism Apologists can spread their message unopposed.

I don't think so MHGinTN, you are entitle to you oppinion!

...and I don't have to agree so there!:)

Sorry, that doesn't answer my question. Let me ask it again. What specifically has Romney done as governor that shows he is following this oath in the literal sense that some on this thread have claimed?

If you can't answer the question, please just say so and stop wasting our time.

To: colorcountry
nope

Then there's no reason to think Romney would suddenly start upholding the oath in a literal sense as some on this thread would claim. Thus, the use of the oath as a reason not to vote for a Mormon, at least where Romney is concerned, is silly.

I won’t distant myself from Mitt just to seem like I am fair I think he means what he says.

I am so sick of PC BS even among consevatives!

If Mitt can really come out of the LDS closet that if fine with me!

Wouldn’t it be nice if our Republican could come out of the conservative closet!

I like a few other on the ticked too but I look at things in the bigger picture.

I know very little, almost nothing at all about Massachusetts politics in general. Were there any conflicts with Mormonism in Massachucetts during Mitts reign?

Just because I have no knowledge then you want to dimiss this issue entirely. I’m telling you goody, it won’t work with the Dems.

Your LDS apologetic tactics may work with indoctrinized Mormons, but the rest of us don’t fall for it.

...one who claims to be Christian but has no problem killing babies

False choice because you don't have an atheist vs a Christian, you have an atheist vs a lying atheist.

Anyone who does that is a loon.

Why do you say that? Is theology the only issue that must not be an issue? We don't have a democracy, so you can't vote issues. In a republic you must choose the person and I believe that your evaluation should begin with the person's world-view. If a person comes to the right conclusion for the wrong reasons, you have a situation where the end justifies the means and you cannot count on a consistency of philosophy.

Behold the noble loon!

I am not distancing my self, he just dosn't seem to be "The guy" I want. I think Fred Thompson would be a better president and can win handily over any of the Dim candidates. Wouldn’t it be nice if our Republican could come out of the conservative closet!

Fred IS out of the closet

Before I received my testamony CC I did not have a good opinion of the Mormons that had hung in the air.

But the Spirit of the Lord over rode that!

I knew the comforter from reading the Bible and I recognized him when I prayed over the Book of Mormon it is the same!

1 John 1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another

Hey, if someone wants to vote against someone merely because he/she disagree with their theology, without any regard to their positions on the issues or what their behavior has been in the past, he/she should go for it. But I would still call him/her a loon.

In a republic you must choose the person and I believe that your evaluation should begin with the person's world-view.

Would you agree that a person's world-view is shown by their stance on issues and how they have behaved in the past? That would seem to be a greater indicator than the name of the door of the building they walk into.

Please copy and paste where I've posted any LDS apologetics. Oh, that's right, you can't. I've never done such a thing.

You are forgiven for lying about me.

Which again, means that if someone wants to vote FOR someone merely because he/she AGREES with their theology, without any regard to their positions on the issues or what their behavior has been in the past, he/she should go for it. But I would still call him/her a loon. Right? That's your position extended to the other side of the coin?
